Sometimes I think I do. The Corporation I work for is on a big going green streak. The CEO decided that we are going to be as enviromentally friendly as possible. :thu:

We used to throw away about 2000 pounds of paper a week. We've cut our usage down to recycling about 500 pounds a week. We are now LEED certified, and we've cut the energy usage at our factories and offices 50%. :thu:

All of the big bosses (CEO, CFO, Head of Engineering, Head of Installation, Head of R&D, and a couple others) drive company cars. Funny thing is though, The CEO drives an AMG C63. The Head of Engineering drives a Lincoln Navigator. The head of Installation drives a Ford Super Duty F-350. All the others drive 12 cylinder BMW's. All of these cars are paid for by the corporation. Yes, we are very enviromentally friendly.

The mortgage company tried going "green" by turning off half of the florescent lights in the office. That lasted about 20 minutes before all the women started bitching about not being able to see anything.:D

With the amount of paper that was wasted at that place, we could have worked by candlelight with no heat or A/C, using abacuses and rotary phones, and there would have been minimal offset.

Our company has, but I think it has more to do with a different shade of "green" than the typical green reference.

In our building, we get money back from our waste management company for our recycling, so now there are receptacles and bins everywhere and they're getting filled. We're also printing on both sides of old sheets of paper, crossing out the old info. We've also cut out a lot of lighting and heating in the building and that actually saved us over $100,000 in the past month and a 1/2.

:D

What's with that? Our office is unintentionally segregated right now... all admin/clerical/orders are female and everyone else is a guy. They are at one end and we're at the other for legit logistics reasons.

They have ever light on AND lamps on their desks, walls and you name it.

Us? Just the main hall lights, we shut all the overheads near us off, and it stays that way.

thank you I'm here all week.
:D

:D

I think the company I work for is trying to be "green" like a lot of other large companies. Even still... we use a hell of a lot of paper each month for our invoices. i dont think that can be avoided though.

Do you work for BMW ec?

Nah, just a serious fanboi. :D I've owned/own several and have traveled to Munich more than once just to visit their headquarters. Considering another trip this summer.

But seriously, they are on the cutting edge as far as hydrogen development is concerned... they put a lot of R&D dollars (well, euros) into it and are basically banking on using it as a main technology sometime in the company's future. They are one of, if not the, only major companies developing engines and systems to allow use of hydrogen in traditional piston-powered internal gasoline combustion engines. Meaning that when you don't have access to hydrogen, you can fill up with gas, allowing for a feasible intermediate stage in the development of the hydrogen infrastructure. They have also sponsored some of the first hydrogen filling stations in the world.

We build planes. It's not really a really environmental-friendly thing :D

But what bother me is 80/100 people don't turn off their computer, just because they're lazy to do it, and turn it on on the morning !

And paper..

We have HUGE progresses to make.....

I work at a wastewater plant called the Water Pollution Control Center. It's green and brown at the same time! I had an idea wherein we could produce electricity with the flow of water to power some equipment. The idea went nowhere. I even brought in information of where to call and where to see demonstration projects.

That would be a great idea if they would do it.
