Stupid UPS driver.

We bought a Sleep Number bed with my wife's bonus, and it wasn't supposed to ship until next week.

It arrived today, which is nice.

However, I specifically requested Signature on Delivery, because of the 'hood I live in.

So what does the UPS guy do? He puts the boxes in the alley, in my wife's parking spot. Not up against the fence, not in front of my truck where people might not steal them. Not even stacked neatly on top of one another. Just plopped willy-nilly in the middle of the parking space, like they were tossed there from 20 feet, lying 5 feet apart. Where anyone with a pickup truck could have been gone with them in 4 seconds.

I've been home all day. The labels on the boxes both say "Signature Required".

All's well that ends well I suppose, but the next time I see that UPS guy I'm going to throw something at his truck.

You should call UPS and complain. Maybe get a free T-shirt out of it!

Or better yet, hide one of the boxes and claim that it was missing from the 'pile' and you expect compensation because you were supposed to sign for it...

He doesn't give a {censored} about that truck, dude. I'd seriously call UPS and light 'em up, though... that's pretty {censored}ed up.

I figure if I hit his truck with a rock, he'll stop and get out. While he's saying "Dude, what the fu..." I'll smash him in the face with a wet loaf of moldy bread.

I didn't think that far into it. Good point.

How much do those beds cost? My wife kinda mentioned getting one.

I like the way you think better. :D

I would combine the two approaches.

Call and complain until they give you a moldy loaf of bread?
;)

No, call and complain, but instead of hiding one of the boxes, put a moldy loaf of bread INSIDE it, and then make them pay you for that, duh

A lot. We got a king, one of the midrange models, and it was about $2400 after tax. Just for the mattress, we opted out of the foundation and the legs they sell for it.

It's a major bone of contention for me right now, given that I'm not going to Chicago this month like I wanted to, which would have been like $400. I had better sleep like I've never slept before...

I've never tried one of those, but a couple years ago the wifey and I threw down a couple grand on a Tempur Pedic Celebrity bed. It is no doubt the best money I have ever spent. My bad doesn't hurt when I wake up anymore!

my missus and i have tried the sleep number beds, and the memory foam beds, and the simmons beds and the sealys and just about every {censored}in' thing else under the sun.

problem is - missus goes about 105 pounds, and i'm weighing in about 240 250 give or take. we always wear out my side of the bed faster than hers, and we can't quite agree on firmness.

we bought a memory foam from amazon and it actually worked great for about 2 years.

we replaced it with a couple of $50 twin mattresses from big lots and a couple of egg crate foam tops for them, and haven't been happier since.

and when i wear out my side, we just go get another $50 sealy twin from big lots and start over again.

YMMV.

Well, yeah, cause you haven't used anything else since then...

The problem we have is that I can't stand soft beds, and my wife would sleep in a hammock if she could, so there's really no way to compromise. My sleep number was like a 75, and hers is a 15.:D

All the memory foam and pillowtop mattresses we checked out were WAY too soft for me, so I accepted this purchase because I sleep like {censored} anyways, and she's complained about back pain for a while now.

Honestly, I haven't had a good, full, comfortable night's sleep in 3 years. My insomnia right now is wearing me down to nothing, so if this helps, it will be worth the money.

How the {censored} do people sleep on these 3ft high bouncy things? like a {censored}in tramapoline..

my wife and i have a sleep number bed. i can't wait to get rid of the thing. the little hand controls mysteriously stopped displaying, so who knows what number i am. there's a foam strip that runs down the center and separates the 2 air mattresses. the foam compresses over time and you end up with the same black hole that sucks you into the center of the bed as you would with any other mattress. they cost a lot of money, and i personally don't think they're worth it. i hope you have better luck with yours.

Yep. After my year in England where I had maybe 4 nights of good sleep (seriously), I decided that I was going to get a Tempur-pedic.

Bought a California King when I moved to LA, and it's been heaven since then :D

The drivers I rode with over Christmas break pulled some {censored}, but they would never have left a signature-required, high-dollar item like that out in the open. That goes against just about every delivery rule we're/they're supposed to follow.

Call your local center and chew them out.

My brother actually broke his back in a snowmobiling crash. Hairline fracture in one of his vertebra. Has had back pains sleeping for a couple years. Sometimes nagging, sometimes completely debilitating and staying home from work bad.

So he got the sleep number bed. He hasn't complained since. Said his number is 35. I'd love to try to sleep in it one night to test it out, BUT THAT'S GHEY.

I think I'll try one, once I move into my new house.

I bought a new, pretty good futon around Thanksgiving 2007.

Then we moved overseas in the summer of 2008, but she needed it to sleep on for three months while she got ready for an exam. (I had to go earlier). Ended up having to leave it to the {censored}wit neighbors, because we were only authorized one shipment of household goods. :(

I'm afraid of getting too comfy a mattress now. It make it hard to sleep anywhere else when I'm on the road. ;)

If I had C7's insomnia, I'd go the distance, though. ;)

On the other hand, after the first Hammerbash, I find it highly doubtful that C7 has insomnia.

>_>
