Members t3ch
So... There is a Spector NS20005 close by for $425, and I was thinking about picking it up.. Any other basses in this price range to look out for? I can tell you I LOVED the feel/sound of the SR-505, and HATED the feel of the Schecter Custom-5. That will give an idea for string spacing/neck size...
Members BottomHeavyKate
I thought your title was 'Help me pick out a liver'.... I my Sound Gear 5 string. Light, thin neck - it makes me happy.
Members Bryan316
There's an Ibanez SR-705, with a laminated maple/walnut thru-neck, the import Bartolinis, the nicer bridge and tuners, sculpted body so it's light as a feather almost too light, for $550 in my neck of the woods. If you can find that guy... m/ Also, go looking for LTD B-5E cuz these can be had around 500-600 bucks: But don't bother with the B-415SM, had crap sustain and quite twangy. The walnut tops were very rich and loud and very high output. I really, REALLY regret not snagging that B-5E. It was comfy, easy, and sounded BOLD. Members Poltergeist
those LTD's are definitly very very good... the new Mikel Kroeger (or however it is called) Spector just came out, and i'm totally dying to try one out for real. they go for around 700/

Members mlwarriner
i love my NS-2000/6 fo' shizzle. and i typically HATE HATE HATE emg's pickups. YMMV.
Members Bryan316
Yamahas have big wide string spacings, ESP's have medium spacing, and Ibanez has narrow string spacing. Spectors are around the medium spacing. MTD Kingstons aren't bad, if they fit your hands. And they're SUPER wide spacing.
Members RSBro
I'd go MTD Kingston 5 for that price. I was always kinda "meh" on that particular line from Stuart and Co.
Members sludgebass69
So you like wide string spacing? Try a MTD Kingston of Heir. My Kingston 5'er has the most comfortable wide neck I've ever played.

Members t3ch
By the 21st I'll have spent all my money I can't make this one, but I definitely want to make the next one during the summer. That LTD in 5, but the more metal one, is one of the most absolute gastastic basses for me, but I don't know how I'd feel buying one new and taking a hit on it if I don't like it. The reviews I read on the N2005 spectors seemed good, I guess they're not? I'm not huge on MTD's or Yamaha's in that price range as they are uh... well... Ugly. Members rpsands
t3ch -- trust me on this one. Go buy this bass (assuming you can get a guarantee on it, as there's no telling what kind of shape it's in from the pic..looks pretty good). http://www.pawnshopsuperstore.com/products/default.aspx?cat=165 Peavey GV. Wood fingerboard, graphite neck, two active humbuckers with a nice Eq, for 500 bucks. Can't top that period.

Members gonzobassman
You mean you don't already have three or four fivers t3ch? Man! With your multitude of bass {censored} I just assumed you already had several!!! Happy hunting. BTW Warwick Rock Basses are typically in that price range, but I know where theres one for $250.00 plus shipping,in a really nice gigbag!(sorry, just wanted to make sure you knew)! I've actually sold a ton of pedals and ALL of my basses except for one, and am also down to a single stack. I've owned enough gear where I know what I want, and I'm done buying inexpensive "good deal" basses for now, so I'm pooling all my gear money together to just buy one nice bass-thing instead of 50 decent bass-things. Members rpsands
I think it's ugly, but yeah it looks like an alright deal for someone else. Peavey necks annoy me. It's not a peavey neck, it's a modulus neck.
