Members Cliff Fiscal
What do I do? I have a 5 string Fender Jazz. Do I: -Getting thinner strings and tune the lowest string to C or -Get thicker strings and tune the lowest to G or - just string one of my 4 strings up with thicker strings to handle C tuning....and leave my 5 alone? Members Poltergeist
C is just a half tone up from B, so you'll be fine, you can tune it that way without much of a fuss.
Members Reverend179
Honestly just tune one of your fours down. That fifth string is going to be unintelligible and all but useless if it's down that low.

You could also do it this way, with a high E string, but do you do a lot of soloing where having an upper-range string would be worth it?
Members Poltergeist
i'd just tune the B to C, really... .... not worth having to buy different gauge strings and maybe having to file the nut and the possibility of having a crappy tension on it... Members Cliff Fiscal
If I tune my Jazz up to C.....that would make my low E string an F........along with the rest of the strings That extra tension is annoying........

My G&L is tuned to C# atm, 50-110 strings, plenty of tension. It's not that big of a deal.
