Members Renfield Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 Doesn't give employers even more "right" to treat their people even more like {censored}. Is it just me, or are others feeling added pressure from bosses because they know you don't dare leave in these tough times?
Members tylytle Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 Not sure about all that, but my greedy boss is getting worse by the day.
Members lokidecat Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 You ain't gunna quit. You have no options. It's happening to me, too. Every employee where I work is feeling the burn. They cut back on hours, cut back payroll (by attrition.. aka not hiring people to fill positions of those who quit/get fired), and the manager has become a colossal dick. It's not the right of the employer, but it's in their ability. They got you dead-to-rights at this point. They turn the screws on ya, so.. what're you going to do about it? (grumble)
Members baracuda2004 Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 Almost everyday man.. Boss quotes I hate: "Be lucky we hired you so you have a job right now.""{censored} we have to pick up the work in here. Either way I bet I can find 5 more guys in 5m off the street." In general he's been a dick for a while now, but it's gotten a little worse. I don't get it either cause we are always + in sales % and do the best in the whole store as far as that is concerned, but it's just never enough for him lately..

(grumble) That's why I put "right" in quotes, they think it's their right as employers to do it, mine sure does. I have it worse as I answer to 3 people, all in a power struggle so pull me around to do their bidding all the while not the other 2 guys'. And no matter what I do, I will (and are) getting in {censored} 2/3 of the time for 3/3 of the stuff I do or can't get done. I had to take home work for the first time ever just to meet a ridiculous deadline. I was asked with 10 minutes left in the day Friday how much longer a project would take. I answered "About a day." He got 3 hours from that somehow, said he'd come for me at 11:30 looking for it. So came up to me this morning after I had been in the office about 75 minutes and asked if it was done yet. I said it was, I had to take it home and it took 6 hours there to finish. His sole reply.... Good. Eff to the capital You.

Members hawkhuff Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 Some bosses are just evil assholes reagrdless the economic climate. You unfortunately lucked out and got three. That {censored}in' stinks.
Members lokidecat Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 my boss was great when we were doing okay. now his district and regional are riding HIS ass, so he's returning the favor. morale is at an all-time low, and people WISH they could quit, but know that that'd be a really REALLY bad move right now.
Members baracuda2004 Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 Just put your head down and keep working hard.
Members Renfield Posted March 10, 2009 Author Members Posted March 10, 2009 morale is at an all-time low, and people WISH they could quit, but know that that'd be a really REALLY bad move right now. Truth. I was talking with a guy in a different department about this stuff the other day, his reply was "hey be glad you aren't getting laid off." My reply was "I wish!! I wish they'd lay me off, seriously. Best thing that could happen to me right now." And I mean it. If I quit or get fired then I panic and look for a new job. If I get laid off, I collect the Unemploment I've paid into for the last 23 years, take a well deserved and earned summer off and then go to school as they'll pay to upgrade my education to get a real job for a change. I want to go back to school, but having an income right now all but disqualifies me from student loans.

Members rpsands Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 My bosses are feeling tons of pressure, and we're having to do the work of a lot of people who aren't around anymore, but they could not possibly be doing a better job to support and insulate us from the pressures of the economy. As much as things are difficult right now I could not be working for a better company. Having to get the same stuff done with 2/3rds the workforce is a bitch, but everyone I work with is handling it with grace and in general badassery.
Members t3ch Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 My work is great right now, and I'm going about business as usual. I even worked 2 hours of overtime today for kicks cause I could use the money... Sorry you guys aren't lucky enough to have decent coworkers
Members Roger in the sky Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 actually im catching the most {censored} from {censored}ing CUSTOMERS these days. i work in a jewelry store, being a luxury item, we're being hit pretty hard right now and scrambling to hold on to our customers (luckily we have a loyal core of regulars keeping us afloat) we're going out of our way for everyone, offering more sales and discounts than we ever have before and not matter what it's never enough. every single day i have people pitching fits and wanting "more more more" everyone has a piss poor attitude, like they are actually mad at me 'cause they're spending money. it dosn't help that every news station and paper has "experts" telling people "now is the time to haggle! the stores have no choice!" every {censored}ing asshole on the floor want's a special deal. well guess what, if it's already being offered at 50% off THAT'S ALL YOU {censored}ING GET do you think we get this {censored} for free? we have to pay for it! god damn it i am so {censored}ing fed up with this {censored}ing {censored} i want to gouge my own {censored}ing eyes out!AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Members Roger in the sky Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 sorry. i had to get that out. a big part of my job is to smile and be nice to these people no matter how {censored}ing rude they are to me
Members rpsands Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 I couldn't even get the sonovabitch at discount tire to give me a token 20 bucks off my 130.00 tire the other day. {censored} the recession haggling. and I was paying 40 extra for a rotate and alignment.

AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I've seen at least 10 stories on how to horde your money during these tough times by the idiot media. They tell everyone that if you don't cut back your spending, you are gonna be sorry. These idiots don't even understand that that mentality contributes to a recession, they think they are actually providing society a service by doing this.
Members J the D Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 So when has the media EVER presented the facts in an undistorted fashion?

Members hawkhuff Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 ....... they think they are actually providing society a service by doing this. They are. They in their felatio madness for Obama wants the economy to fail. See? They know it will lead to even more government takeovers.
Members lug Posted March 10, 2009 Members Posted March 10, 2009 So when has the media EVER presented the facts in an undistorted fashion? Seriously? It could have just been my youth but I remember a golden time when the media cared for it's own reputation a bit more. They tried a bit harder to verify stories. Getting the facts straight meant as much as getting the story out first. Then, Dan Rather came along.....

AAARRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH The not-so-funny thing is that it is really working both ways. When I get good customer service these days, it is almost shocking how nice it is. The guy that rented me a wet tile saw in Lowes the other day was an absolute sweetheart and it stuck with me. Conversely, I've had a hell of a time getting any kind of service out of anyone...especially financial institutions. Don't get me started on my health insurance company. Horrible horrible 6 month wild goose chase trying to get reimbursed for a claim. Even more frustrating was CitiMortgage. We recently re-fi'd to another company so that our balloon loan wouldn't float. Citi had to send us a check for $750 from our escrow account. The check they sent us bounced. The annoying thing was that THEY denied their own check when my credit union sent it back to them for payment. So then my credit union charges me $15 for a bounced check. So that brings the account in went in below $100 and they charge me another $5 fee for that. It's absolutely theft. And why? Luckily, we are in good repore with our branch. The lady there was able to wave the $5. But we have to try to get that $15 back from Citi before they will reimburse. All this...AND IT'S OUR MONEY! They wrote us the check in mid-January and we still don't have it.
