OT: Is there a free word processor that can save as Word?

I'm trying to help out a friend who is down on his luck by giving him my old Win98 laptop so he can sign up for NetZero and search/apply to Monster.com, craigslist, etc. ads for jobs.

I formatted the HD and reinstalled Win98SE, then updated to the latest versions of IE, Shockwave player, Flash player and Acrobat reader that '98 can handle. Now all he'll need is a word processor (preferably a free download) to write resumes with. Probably would be a good thing if it could save files as .doc Word.

Anyone know of such a thing?

TIA

NeoOffice will do it for sure. I've used it and found it to be very reliable. I haven't tried OpenOffice yet, but everyone seems to like it.
