Which Bass for Flats?

I have a '51 P-Bass and a 60's Reissue Jazz Bass with CS pickups. I have never played with flats before but since I play in a country I want to give them a go. Which bass do you guys think would work best with flats?

Either bass would do fine with flats or rounds.

I had round wounds on my MIA '62 Jazz reissue from new in 1986 'til about two years ago, and switched to flats. It sounds kinda dead soloed, but sits nicely in a classic rawk band mix.

I have rounds on my recent MIJ '51 P, and it sounds great---though I know other forumites string theirs with flats to good effect.

In 1951, there were only one kind of strings available for bass...flats. Hence my vote for the P.

Yes, but the single coil pickup really sounds great with rounds, imo.

It's my only bass that, to me, screams out for rounds.
