Modulus on the local craigslist

Be very leery of buying Pre-95ish modulus'. No truss rod, so you need to go over that neck with a fine tooth comb and check every bit before you buy it.

It runs around 200 bucks to re-fret one of those and have the neck planed if need be. I think it's closer to 300 for a Plekking but not sure on that.

I vastly prefer the pre "adjustment rod" Mods.

All of my Q5's (except my custom one) were this way and have/had zero issues. Ask Robin. He's got my '96 Q5 fretless.

That's a sick deal. $800, and J's on a Mod! Man.

I've never heard of any particular issues with Modulus necks; trussrod of no. Have you?

Yes, I've heard of owners of older necks with no trussrods leaving them out in the sun and warping - bowing out or in. Also, several have spontaneously bowed in or out leaving the action worse.

I owned an M92-4 with a terrible backbow (I bought it aware of this and paid to correct it). But I could see someone getting slipped a bad one without knowing it if they weren't looking -- e.g. if someone tuned the strings up a little or raised the bridge a lot, etc.
