GBE-600 vs. 750

A guy I know is looking at trading in his Ampeg solid-state head and 6x10 for a GBE-750 and 4x10. I don't know what kind of 4x10 - I was assuming it was a GB but don't know that for sure. Anyway, he knows I play through a 600 and asked what I thought, so I told him what I liked about the head and the company. Then he asked about differences between the 600 and 750.

From looking at the GB website it looks like the 750 has more power, dedicated effects loops for each preamp, and an EQ for each preamp. What else is different? :) I'm just trying to educate myself a bit.

It also has seperate input gains for each channel, which is a great feature. You can set them for different basses, or for different gains with the same bass. That makes it super easy to dial in a nice high gain drive and eq on the tube channel, and keep a good clean gain and eq on the SS channel, and be able to switch between both in an instant. For this feature alone I would pick the 750 over the 600.

Does it have an instrument input gain and channel level control for each channel?

Ah, I see what you're saying. No, it has a "gain" and "level" knob for the tube channel, but just a gain knob for the solid state channel. Dial up as much grit as you want with the tube gain knob, then use the level knob to balance the volume with the solid-state channel.
