Members degroove
I was checking to see if there were enough joggers or runners who also play bass. If so, tell me about yourself. Why you run and stuff.

I ran my first 5k for my 30th birthday. I have been running ever since. I am training for a 5K in September and to do a 10k in October. I run for fitness mostly. Its a great stress reliever and I like to run behind hot chicks with nice asses to give me added motivation. I am a total hobby runner. I played baskeball in grade school and high school. I used to hate running. Now I have grown to like it. What are the details for your triathlon? You have to be in great shape to even just complete it. Members lokidecat
My knees are gettin' old. running is too high impact for me. i do walk about 5-6 miles a day an do upper body work on a machine. Right now I only run if I'm being chased.
Members zachoff
Sort of... I start every workout with a 1/2 mile run. Sometimes my crossfit workouts call for me to run a 5k and I do it. Most of the time, I'm running distances less than or equal to 800m though and usually doing 100m sprints with situps/pushups in between. I ran track in high school and coached high school track for a year when I was in college, but I was a sprinter/hurdler and didn't run distances. I guess I run, but not usually for a long time. Members LanEvo
I used to run in high school. Now I just run to feel good and keep in reasonable shape. I generally do 7K per run, but it varies between 5K and 10K. I run 4-5 days per week in the warmer months (depending on how the weather is). Less than that in the winter. Members Apendecto
I work at a gym and I feel like a dope if I don't work out. I'm going to Europe Sept 10 and thought I'd get 100 miles in by then starting mid Aug. Only 30 more to go. I run for a few reasons. I move around a lot on stage and I would hate to get tired. My girlie is a freak and I would hate to get tired there, if you catch my drift. I also like beer a lot. I usually run 5-7 miles 6 days a week, some slow some fast. I used to run cross country in high school and I'd be really curious to see how my time in the 5K compares now. Yo.

Do you work too? I bet training for that takes up an insane amount of time. I now know how far the swimming and biking parts are. I never knew them before. The most I have ever done is a 10k (6.2 miles).

Members ec437
I run because it makes me feel disciplined. And its fun. I'm slowly moving foward in a marathon program for next year.
Members JacieFB
I am a runner. I run for many reasons. One of the main reasons is that I am type-1 diabetic. Even though running sometimes makes tight control more difficult, overall, I believe that I am improving my health. Like others have said, I also run to relieve stress. Although, habitually, I run to undo negative effects of my diet, I have come to understand that I have had to improve my diet to improve my running. I also like the way it makes me look. I like that it gives me discipline. I have done the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati the last two years. I'm thinking that I need a few years off of marathoning, as it was very hard on me. I am currently in the pre-training for a 10k training program. My "big race" will be the Thanksgiving Race in Cincy this year. Pre-training looks like this (miles):M: offT: 5W: 4T: 6F: 5S: 4S: 7 So far so good. I'm getting in pretty good shape, but it's not wearing me out like marathon training did in the spring. Members Pickdust
I run every other day for 30 minutes...........no more no less. I run because things hurt less when I do v.s. when I don't. I lift (high rep low weight) on the alternate days. 4 days on 1 day off..............and so on.... I ran a couple of 1/2 marathons in the early 90s and, as a result, have no desire to run a full one. If I could surf everyday I'd abandon all my workouts.............permanently! Members Dan450
I almost killed myself walking a staircase a few weeks back so I decided to start running, swimming and doing ridiculous jumps over 1,500 pound hay bales to get my body back. Been a slow process but totally worth it! And who needs fancy equipment to get in shape? I use a river and a field.
Members bassred
I hate running, unless there's a bear involved. I love chasing bears. that, and Ice cream trucks don't really go that fast, so I don't have any need to run! WE (Zappos, my employer) are the primary sponsor for the Rock and ROll Marathon that is going to be here in Vegas in December. I hope to be there, but on one of the many stages rockin' out some tunes to pump up the runners! My wife plans on walking the half. Just had a great meeting with the folks from the marathon and we have really been encouraged to participate.
