I think I prefer Back to the Future II in '89, but that could also be my favorite sequel ever, so my opinion might be a bit skewed. To be fair, I would admit that The Last Crusade would be a solid 1a, if the vote were left entirely up to me.

Terminator 2 is another of the best sequels ever, and they totally got that one right.

As far as Batman and Robin goes, there is so much wrong with it that George Clooney is the least of your problems. That it is the best sequel of that year is a testament to how horrible the film industries approach to sequels had become, not to the quality of the movie.

The issue with Batman & Robin is that they tried to present it as a sequel, when in reality they should have just went all the way to the non-serious side and made it an adaptation of the 60's TV series. Both Keaton's and Kilmer's Batman characters were serious and darker like the comic book.

Two points about your link. Good grief, man. They've got Batman & Robin as a better sequel than Tomorrow Never Dies. James Bond>Batman. Secondly, how is "Generations" a sequel? It wasn't a sequel to anything. It was the first TNG movie. It's just like JJ Abrams Star Trek this summer. It's not a prequel or sequel. It's a new franchise, IMHO.

Surprisingly, I agree with most of his choices. But Batman and Robin!!?? Crazy. Alien Resurrection gets a bad rap. That movie was very solid.

Although, as I read through the list I kept going, "What? That movie was crap! Oh, but look at the competition...."

Strongly disagree about "Terminator 2". After the greatness of the first one, bringing Arnold back as a "Good Terminator" was just lame. Having an annoying kid character didn't help any more than it helped the second "Indiana Jones" movie. Sure, good special effects, but just not a very good movie, particularly in comparison to the original.

The only character in "Dark Knight" that was the least bit interesting was The Joker, and he couldn't carry the movie on his own.

The elusive only person in the world who doesn't acknowledge that Terminator 2 is the best movie of the entire franchise.

True, but Batman & Robin does gain points for being completely bat{censored} insane. Pun very intended. Tomorrow Never Dies is pretty much the definition of routine.

That kid (Edward Furlong) has been in two other awesome movies... Detroit Rock City and American History X. :thu:

He's way better than the kid from The Goonies.

Yes, The Joker was awesome in Dark Knight, but the storyline, plot development, and general scene-scapes made that movie IMO. I thought it ruled.

I thought that Jonathan Price played one of the better villains in recent Bonds movies. I also felt that some of the plot in which the news agencies he ran were actually assisting the governments getting to the brink of war related very well to the hyperbolic 24/7 news agencies we have today. But I can certainly see why you would think it was routine. All Bond movies have certain traits to follow. It's kind of like being the unnamed officer in the Star Trek TOS landing party. You just know the guy isn't going to be alive for very long.

I haven't seen "Detroit Rock City". I agree he was good in "American History X", and in John Waters' "Pecker" as well. But annoying in "Terminator 2". Not the actor's fault, just an annoying character.

The lack of even the slightest interest in any of the characters in "Dark Knight" other than The Joker made the whole movie pretty much un-interesting to me. One interesting character just couldn't carry it.

I agree with the B&R. That movie was so absolutely horrible that it was enjoyable.

I thought it was funny how one time at UC Santa Barbara I went to a film studies screening of "The Lost Boys" and Joel Schumacher showed up for a Q&A session. The first thing he said was something like "Yes, I screwed up Batman, don't ask me any questions about it!"

'89 - Christmas Vacation. Almost as good as the original.

'98 - Insurrection. I'm just a shill for the TNG movies.

'99 - Austin Powers. Still love that movie. Tent scene almost made me piss myself.

'04 - Bourne Supremacy. The Bourne movies are rad. Spiderman... Not so much.

'05 - Episode III. I've never seen a Harry Potter movie.

'09 - Halloween II. I'm looking forward to this one. :thu:
