Members easyom
Hello to the bass community first of all,i leave in france & pricewise it makes huge differences for equipment:i play a 4 string midi bass with the VB-99(still in the box)(It might have some importance about input etc...)and SLAP above all &Tap playin & playin bass in a jazz Funk fusion band is the driver behind this investmentI'm after the best MUSICAL,Punchy, tight, fast reacting and (hi-fi) well define midrange and high not harsh;a versatile system with its preamp onboard.I 'm looking for an amp & a 4x10 cab(leaving the future open for upgrading ,another cab 1x15 for ex;I cant listen & decide by my ears to the system which will cost in UKfor some combination around 2200

Members Darkstorm
How about vigier basses for the bass. Maybe warwick too since is another fine european brand that wishes was cheaper in america. Lol. Id think theyd be much less expensive your way then they are here in america and they are mighty fine instuments sound wise. Waits for french forumites to suggest what tghey thinks best french and oither euro brands available for nice prices over there. Are Uk brands like marshall amps inexpensive in france? Remembersw they where inexpensive in Uk.
Members easyom
Strangely enough ,usa market is either much bigger ,or & french importers and sellers(vigier, leduc, noguera, lairat)are too greedy:cry:
Members Super Bass
Thumper, sorry ,no-comprende easyom, Thumper is talking about another user here - Jazz Ad. He's in France. Welcome to the forum btw! As far as amps go, I use a Shuttle 6.0... not quite a 12.0 I know but similar sounding. It sounds great to my ears. Out of those options you listed, the G-B would work out as the cheapest I think, yet it would still be a great amp! My 6.0 is a very fast reacting amp and quite punchy but it can get grittier when you want it. The tube preamp is very nice for adding some extra dirt. I use it with one of the Shuttle Neo cabs (2x10) and it sounds very good wth this. I also intend to add a 1x15 in the future actually, but on it's own it is still very nice sounding. I don't know of any G-B dealers in France but I bought mine from Bass Direct in the UK. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk They sell Bergantino, EA, SWR, TC, Genz Benz and many others! Good prices too. Members FreestyleIntruder
I think Trace Elliot amps and cabs will give you the sound you want, although I have no idea how expensive they are across the Channel.

Cheaper than in the US I think, but still pretty expensive. They sound great though. I played their 1000w head a while back and liked it.

I played their 1000w head a while back and liked it. I used to hate them - not because of the sound but because, back in the late-90s when I first started playing out and about, THAT'S all anyone seemed to be using. I think C7 hates Ampeg for the same reason. They are pretty great - I've not tried the new stuff though.
Members Super Bass
Yeah, Trace were one of the bigger bass brands during the 90's. I remember seeing them in one of my first visits to a guitar store back in about '96. They're solid amps though and most of the rehearsal studios over here use the older ones or maybe Ashdown which is run by a bunch of former Trace employees. I don't really like them though. Quite the contrary. The swedish EBS makes some serious amps as does the italian MarkBass.
