Members countrybass
Well it looks like Im gonna have 4-6 months off. I've been gigging with the same band for alittle over 2 years now and one of the guys is um... going to jail for awhile. Sooooooooo. I'm not sure what to do. We plan on hitting it hard again when he's released, but in the meantime. I'm accustomed to gigging 3-4 times a week. I don't know if I should just enjoy the time off or if I should find a temp job gigging. I wanna still play, but there are a few things that I kinda don't feel like doing. Like learning a bunch of new tunes. I've been doing this band thing for 31 years and quite frankly, I'm tired. It's really gotten old, but I still dig it most of the time. I just keep going back and forth in my head about it.

Members dDigitalPimp
id say to take a break if you are feeling tired of it all and dont really need the money. btw, what did your bandmate do to get thrown in the klink?
Members countrybass
2nd DUI. I may just take off some time. I guess it depends on who needs a bassist and if it's worth it.
Members bassplayer7770
Taking some time off can be a good thing. Maybe you could consider writing some original music with others? Have you been doing originals or covers?
Members BottomHeavyKate
Wow....I'd use it as time off. By the time you find another group of people and learn all the material it'll be time to start up with the other group...
Members collinwho
I'd probably take some time off if I were you.
Members zachoff
Time away is a really good way to figure things out. Before this Spring, I didn't pick up my bass for well over a year and now I'm loving it again.

Members pamackie
Man, I'd say that would yield some badass outlaw country originals. Your cred just went up. Except that it was DUI, which is pretty lame as felonies go.
Members Sugarskull
4-6 months is a long time. I'd take 2 weeks and see what's up after that, personally.
Members Poltergeist
i'm young and i still need to take a break now and then... i feel a better musician when i pick the instrument back, find new flavous, and feel like i've grown a little and found a new interest... ... i don't know, probably you should, nothing wrong with that.
