Members Spankenstein
You love playing guitar with your band and then one day your buddy's band is booked as the opening act for you and suddenly they're like "Oh by the way, you're playin bass for us that night k thnx." Uh, what do I do?Anything I should know about performing on bass guitar? Or do I just get the hell up there and play? Edit: I didn't mean how to play, I meant how to set up and blend well so I don't drown the atmosphere like a total prick.
Members t3ch
Is this a trick question? You'll need to know the bass parts and/or know how to play as a bassist. You should play as tight and accurate as you do on guitar, there's nothing magically different between the two. Frets are frets, notes are notes, and songs are songs. Good luck as a fill in! Members Crescent Seven
get chord progressions from the band and study the CD. you're going to look like a total ass but at least they'll have a bass player up there with them. Members Thrustin
Think like a bass player. Be a bass player. *This means 'keep it simple' so you can fill your mind with thoughts of bewbs, gear and sammiches. You never want to play something so complicated that you can't think about sammiches. Music is supposed to be fun, right? Bassers got it on lockdown! Just think sammiches, and the bass lines will come.
Members Spankenstein
Guys, I meant is there anything I should know in terms of equips... Like how to blend with the band, what setup is appropriate, acoustics I should consider. Not how to actually play. Super huge facepalm

Members Spankenstein
SVT 200t with some Ampeg 8x10, I think. The bass might be some Ibanez with EMG's I'm guessing.
