Moderators Kindness Posted September 27, 2009 Moderators Share Posted September 27, 2009 Crazy? I think so. Too many reliability issues for me to feel comfortable making that change.

Moderators Kindness Posted September 27, 2009 Moderators Share Posted September 27, 2009 Hmmm, I hadn't heard about any reliability issues..... care to elaborate? I only have second and third hand stories, but representative versions of them can be found easily on talkbass if you search the amp forum (and less easily here - there is a forum member that went through two or three VRs all having problems). It sounds like there were sporadic parts sourcing issues and I've personally witnessed some issues with the protection circuit preventing the amp from coming out of standby. The basic design is fine, but amp to amp there are stories of problems. That said, if you have one that works, I like it more than the CL.

Thanks, well, I don't think the guy selling it would rip me off and not tell me if it's had problems. Hmmmmm.....

I can't tell if it is or not because I have no reference for Australian dollars. If you really want the authentic SVT vibe, this will give it to you. Dude is selling an NV610 as well... Hmmm, I'll bet he's a TBer.

Members bluedogaudio
I have a VR and it sounds great, but it does have an issue every once in a while coming out of standby....but it really hasn't been a big deal. If I let it warm-up for a few minutes, I don't have any issues.
Members bnyswonger
The magnavox beats the VR IMO. I've got one and woud definitely not trade it for a new VR.
