Has anyone read or heard anything of these?

Apparently they're being released MusikMesse in March 2010 but there are a few prototypes knocking around at the minute.

From what I've read they seem pretty cool and from this vid I think they sound awesome!

Wow, that is a killer tone! That's exactly the kind of drive/grind I am looking for, though I am wondering what kind of rig that guy is running in the clip. That's the first I heard of a BB2024, but I need to find out more. I totally love my BB415, and if these are even slightly better I may need to hide my wallet good...

I can't view YT videos at work. Is this new model going to be made in Japan?

Yep, apparently they are.

This is all I know about them. It's what the guy from NIN posted on TB...

These BB basses were supposed to be released at Winter NAMM 2010 but it looks like the official release will now be at Frankfurt MusikMesse in March 2010. They are the same bass that I am currently playing. The new basses will be made in Japan and they will not be cheap. They are a high-end bass, but there is no official pricing as yet. The body is made of alder, and the neck is a five-ply laminate like the old school BB's, with a really nice rosewood fingerboard. The bridge is unique to this bass, I think. It does have the option of either through-body or traditional stringing. The pickups are all-new, alnico bar, and quite a lot of time went in to getting them just right (which I was involved in, along with the other consulting artists). The model numbers will be BB2024 (no pickguard) & BB2024X (with pickguard) for the 4 string, and BB2025 & BB2025X for the five string

Apart from this guy I think Michael Anthony has one and the singer from a band over here called Zico Chain has one.

As for pricing, the guy from Zico Chain told me they're

Yeah, I have an MIJ BB3000MA, which is Michael's former sig bass. It has Alder wings and a 5-piece Maple/Mahogany neck. It's a fantastic bass IMO. I have no doubt these new models will be awesome. :thu:

I can't find anything about a BB2024 on Yamaha's website.

This is the only thing on the Yamaha website and it's just a tiny mention

Bassist Michael Anthony will be playing a number of BB414 and BB2024 basses with custom graphics prepared by the luthiers at Yamaha Artist Services Hollywood.

If you put it into Google there are 8 results. 2 of them are this thread, 4 are Polish, one is this Yamaha link and the other is from TB.

That's it.

I have just had on of the BB2024 basses in the shop yesterday to have a go on.

If you like the whole Sheehan vibe then this bass will please - I think the you tube clip is fairly representative of the bass, although there have been revisions to the pickups.

Finish wise - the pre production model I played was in the vintage white finish (not too thick either) with a black pickguard and it looked great (there will also be Black and you can order the bass without the pickguard I believe). The five piece neck is very easy to play with a cool satin finish.

The new bridge and string attachment system is simple but very well designed and built. This will not be a cheap bass, but they are a totally hand built Japanese instrument and the construction was flawless.

All in all a great vintage vibe, lots of old school tones in a really well thought and and designed package.

Not surprised. I love my MIJ Yammy. Any pics to share? ;)
