Members Detox
My computer (WINXP Home Edition) is suddenly asking me to log in. I don't know what my login is, I've never used one in the three years that I've had the computer. I can't get in (typing this from a different computer), now what? Members Orph
Often logging in as admin and possibly using admin as password will work, unless your useraccount has been designated as administrator of the system (which it usually isn't). Members Detox
Well I typed in a user name (no password though) and it seems to have worked. Now how do I set things up so it doesn't ask me to log in at startup any more?

Members Kaesh
It might've started doing this because a program you installed created a hidden account for it's own purposes.

Members Detox
yup, another account was created was my guess as well. Looking back, I think I caused the problem somehow when I ran Window Washer. Must've removed some info having to do with the welcome screen. I've used WW many times and it's never done that before, though. Weird.
Members J.
It happened to me twice when reinstalling Windows on two separate computers. I had a copy of XP SP2 and did fresh installs on each. There was no log-in prompt/welcome screen at first, but it appeared after I downloaded & installed SP3 and all the available winblows updates.
