Members ambient
So the bass player in my band has a mesa m-pulse 360 and just picked up the footswitch that can control the fx loop which is parrallel (10%-100% wet) Thinking about a rack multifx to handle time-based fx, modulations and the like, maybe some filter stuff too. Any recommendations? As it is a parrallel loop, it must be able to do 100% wet and overall patch volume would be nice as well. Setup with a simple midi footswitch and you're good to go. Thoughts? Members Thrustin
I FIND THE CAPS LOCK TO BE AN EASY AND CONVENIENT CHARACTER SIZE COMPRESSOR. IT CAN BE USED BOOST OVERALL SIGNAL!
Members zachoff
I suck at efx, but saw Violent Soho on Friday and they were f'ing awesome! As for efx, the best I've played as far as a rack/multi goes is a Line 6 pre. Can't think of the model, but it was a 2 space rack unit with a pedal. I really only liked it because of the distortion though. I didn't play with much of the other stuff on it.
Members oldivor
We're going to need more detailed information to make any detailed suggestions. Electro Harmonix is a good place to start though. I dunno if they have any rack mounted stuff though, I've just dealt with their foot pedals. Electro Harmonix is a good place to start though. I dunno if they have any rack mounted stuff though, I've just dealt with their food pedals. Well the amp has footswitchable comp, parametric eq and 'solo' volume as well, dirt etc will probably be covered by stompboxes out front as it is now. Essentially some chorus, flanger, delays and reverbs that can set in patchs would be fine. Pitch shifting, filters, trem, phase etc would be gravy. Oh and the 'food' pedals are dan electro - a lot of which are pretty cool (along with the cool cat series) and electroharmonix are freckin awesome but don't really pit the bill for my bass player. Cheers guys

Cheers guys Well, this would be over kill but I've heard good things about the Boss VF-1 http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/VF-1/ The info might be dated also. TC Electronics too. Sadly I've only heard about these (I'm more of a foot pedal guy) but it might be a place to start. To be honest I missed the part it being rack mounted at first, hence the EH suggestion and then the edit... Hopefully this'll at least be some help. I'm pretty sure I've seen them come up relatively cheap which is a plus. In all honesty, it doesn't neeeeeeed to be rack, any multi fx will do. Though my impression is that most floor based mfx are kinda average, or more expensive than they need to be for this and focus more on amp tones etc which we don't really need it to do. It's just one way to keep things reasonably simple rather than a board full of different stomps. It's just
Members rpsands
It depends on how many pedals he needs; if he needs a chorus and a flanger, get pedals. If he needs a chorus, flanger, delay, reverb, echo and an autowah in varying degrees, get a rack fx. The problem with the rackfx is it will be hours setting up and takes a lot of expertise generally to coax the usable sounds out. And be sure to get one with a footswitch. My favorite units are by lexicon and TC so far, but I have not tried a ton of them.
Members ambient
The lure of mfx is, like you said, having the choice of a bunch of different fx which can be set up in various way in different patches. If it's just kept to one unit I don't think the programming will be too bad, he won't be using it (at least most of the time) for 'tone',that will just be coming from the amp and maybe a dirt pedal of 2.
