Members tommorichards
Hi, ive been trying to wire an active bass with a push/pull tone pot, and i have no idea as to how the pot is wired. Does anyone out there know how one of these works. Ive got a pic if anyone would care to write what each connection does. I believe this would help me wire it correctly. Members bassman1956
Okay, the top 3 across are the pot. Each side is an extreme, and the center is the center tap. The 6 below are 2 columns of 3, making up a double-pole double-throw switch. So 3 vertical on either side would make up one single-pole double-throw switch, with the terminals as: top - one leg, center - common, bottom - the other leg. Members BigPigPeaches
We'd need to know what you want the switch to do: go from active to passive, single to double coil, series/parallel...lots of options for this kind of switch. So you're saying that the top is like a normal pot, and each vertical line of 3 is another pot???Lets just say i want it to do a vol/tone thingy. Members Jazz Ad
YOu don't need a push-pull for a regular volume/tone.What do you plan to achieve with the switch?

No, the top is a regular pot. Each vertical line of 3 is a switch, not a pot. The push-pull feature adds a switch to the bottom of the pot. It's a double-pole, double-throw switch. Each vertical 3 is a set for one pole of the 2 poles of the switch.
Members tommorichards
I getcha now!!Well, the pot originally was intended as a treble/bass tone pot for an active preamp. Any idea how to wire one up? cos when i did, it didnt work too well.It used a 22micro farad cap if it helps. Thanks also!

Stacked pot = 2 different controls. You can wire the bottom half to control the bass, and the top to control the treble (or vice-versa). Push-pull is a regular control (ie volume, blend, tone, etc.) with a switch (ie active/passive, mid frequency, series/parallel, etc.).
