Members RSBro
If I would've gone and got some flight training, I wouldn't have minded flying for FedEx or UPS. I know people who work for both and while it's a stressful job sometimes, they take care of their peeps pretty well.

Members catphish
It says the average driver's salary is $74k. I assume the starting salary, while still quite good, is significantly lower than that.

Members moogieotter
And the dock work is back-breaking hell for up to 10 years, all union seniority based - plus everyone is hanging on for a truck route to open up or someone to retire/die. The truck is the carrot for the cart of the real workforce.
Members Ender_rpm
A buddy of mine worked overnights for UPS through college. Made ~$15/hr plus bennies for a part time job. In the mid-late 90s. yeah, they took good care of him.
Members zachoff
One of my friends works for UPS. Apart from the uniforms and union dues he digs it.
Members collinwho
Plus (and this is biggest surprise as far as I'm concerned) there is apparently a decent sized chunk of the female population that finds the uniforms very attractive. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't heard it with my own ears, but its true.

The truck is the carrot for the cart of the real workforce. Very true. A friend has slung boxes for around 12-15 years now and hears there may be a route for him to drive within the next 5. Still, for $74k I'd readily drive a truck around a neighbourhood, acting like I'm delivering packages then just sign them off as "not at home, return to depot" like they all do anyway. Members Hearafter
My drummer worked for UPS as a scheduler. He said some of the drivers worked 70 hours weeks, but yeah, that led to $80k salaries. He said it's pretty crazy, and most people can't handle it. Takes a special breed. Still decent money, and UPS (and Fedex) driving is the cushy end of delivery jobs, since they have package weight limits whereas other trucking companies (Yellow, etc.) don't. Members moogieotter
Once again, that's usually 10 years of $30k a year sacrificing ur spine and ur ballsack waiting for someone to die.
Members L-1329
{censored}, I flew jets for 6 years, and taught people to fly for two years before that, and pumped a {censored}load of fuel into other people's planes for several years before that, before I made $75k. I guess packages make more profit than passenger's.
