Yeah, but it's two different things. Without the 3 hours practice by yourself, the hour practice with the band will be useless. It's like doing your homework before going to class. Gotta do both!

Agree! I quit my last band because myself and the bass player were the only ones who would take the time to practice at home. Everyone else seemed to think they could learn new material on the fly--not good when you're paying for rehearsal studio time.

not that it should matter but I was gonna ask your age until I saw your profile. Now is the perfect time and you should suck it up and start doing it. There's no subsitute for live gig experience and you should start as early as possible. You will be that much better later on.
