Every time I walk away from a gig where I got 4 free beers and $20 as the entire band's take for the evening, I am going to adopt this mantra: "fiasco corporate gig, fiasco corporate gig."

But, that's just me.

They said we'd be outside, which is no problem, but I told them we needed some sort of shelter in case it rained. They provided no shelter--at least we got lucky and it didn't rain.

I told them we needed a stage area for the band (including drums, amps, monitors, mic stands etc.) of 12' deep by 16' wide. When I scoped out the area the evening befoer they left us 4 loose sheets of warped plywood. Knowing this I was able to plan ahead a bit and bring some 2x4s and a box of drywall screws so that we could at least fasten all the plywood together to make the platforma bit more stable.

They were good enough to get an outside sound crew and the sound crew did a fine job of micing all the instruments, but when I had to go 'take care of some business' I walked past the sound board and the only thing coming through the mains was the singer. The corporate guy told them not to mix any instruments and he was the one paying the bilss, so guess who the sound crew listened to.

Paywise we got a big bag of nothing. Five out of the six of us present work for the company who hired us, so we basically got our regular salary, the sixth guy got paid $100, I think. Maybe the other five of us got a giftcertificate or something-I don't remember.

The worst part is that we get offers to play these gigs at least twice a year and everytime we get the offer it sounds like a good idea and every time we're done we all agree that it was the worst gig ever and we'll never do it again. Oh well...

I know I'll probably get flamed for this and I'm sure it's mostly a case of "It's the only picture I've got!" but I can't help noticing the number of people looking at their

fretboard or their feet!!!

As for me...If I had a picture I wouldn't have the computer savvy to post it :(

Buck up there cowboy! I'll admit the leather trou were suspect and that I might button an extra button on the shirt, but you gotta embrace your own style even if that means some cheese.

Make it yours man! If you sell it hard enough everyone in North Carolina will be dressing like you (or saving up to dress like you) in no time!

No one in NC can afford to dress like SpacedCowboy.

Not even SpacedCowboy. That's why he's playing my LP in both those shots.

:p
