Question: I'm practicing with some new guys this weekend.

I see the winky face, but I don't think that's what he means. The guys I play with are very sensitive to volume. We practice very quietly. You could easily hold a conversation in the same room and they still wear ear plugs. If you get guys like that, the 4x12 may not go over well. On the other hand, some people practice like they're playing a full club. Those people may not take you seriously with anything less. It's a crapshoot I guess.

Like I said in an earlier post, I'm not looking to blow them out with the 4 x 12. I'll take the hint from their settings as to what will be the appropriate volume. I'm not wanting full-blown club volume levels either.

Take what you think you might need. Even if that means leaving something in the car for "just in case". I wouldn't go crazy and bring everything you own as you probably don't need to.

I wouldn't think 10 minutes to set up is too much. You can chat with these people as you set up which is something you'd probably want to do anyway, especially since you hadn't met at least one of them before. If you happened to be a drummer you'd be taking AT LEAST 10 minutes to set up so it ain't a big deal.

Glad I took a little more gear. About 2.5 hours into the session the KT-45 amp started to fizzle and fart out on me. I wasn't running it hard at all. It's probably just a tube replacement(?) but she's gotta go back to the repair shop. Damn, two repairs in six weeks doesn't make me very happy. Luckily I also brought along the Marshall head for backup. But before that the KT-45 sounded great on it's own and also with using the Fulltone FD2 and OCD.

Like I said, it was my first time playing with this bassist and drummer. Both guys are very rusty. The bass player has ability and picked up fairly quickly. However, the drummer really struggled and needs a lot more rehearsal and work; perhaps more than I'm willing to wait on. They said they're usually better. I believe the bassist but I'm not sure about the drummer. Good bass drum skills that should be second-nature to most drummers are missing. However, I'll jam with them again to see how it goes. Perhaps my expectations were a little too high but I was really disappointed. We got through most of the Stone's, "Brown Sugar" and some of The Cult's, "Wildflower". We could have progressed more if the drummer were more up to speed.

Anyway, that was my day....
