Members Brian Krashpad
Saturday: Went to my first show in Moefest 2005, five bands on the bill including Crash Pad. Talked my way out of the "honor" of closing since that's where we got stuck last year and my drummer had got so pissed (the house cut our set) he'd said he'd never play the place again. During the Suicide Bombs set some rather attractice girl in a rather short skirt stood on the arms of a chair (a guy, not her boyfriend, was sitting in the chair at the time) and shook her money maker for an entire song. Good times. Sunday: Sunday began at midnight of course, and sometime after that Crash Pad went onstage at a little Irish bar called the Shamrock. Then our buds (their bassist is also the bassist in my side band) in the Monistats closed. To my surprise and shock, we got paid $40 despite that 5 acts played. My guess is they just divided up the door amongst the bands that stayed to the end, but I don't know if that's right either. Got home at 3 a.m. and went to sleep straightaway. Kids woke us @ 9:30. By then I'd already skipped my usual early service guitar gig (I'd told the Music Director it was doubtful I'd show). After some morning chores I unloaded the Rockmobile because I use a different guitar rig in my side band than in Crash Pad. So the Crash Pad guitar rig AND bass rig (I loan mine to our bassist) had to come out and a different guitar rig went in. About 1 p.m., I took off for my second Moefest show. Stopped and picked up the Crash Pad photos on the way. On arrival found I was the first one there although it was scheduled to start @ 2:00. Unloaded the guitar rig to a staging area and found that we got free Killian's draft! Yay, beat the hell outta the free PBR we got at Shamrock the night before (I only had one of those and just drank in the Rockmobile instead)! Hoyt & the HotHeads (my side roots rock band) played second, on the back patio of a small place that's a combination music store/convenience store/show venue, under the blazing sun. Unfortunately it clouded over during our set and a light Katrina rain band came over. After 3 or 4 songs in a spitting rain, our drummer had had enough (his kit is very very expensive) and we had to pull the plug or risk getting fried. By that time we only had a couple songs left, so we quickly covered everything and struck the stage while a tarp cover was put up. Hung around for another couple bands after the tarp got up (of course, by then the rain stopped!) drinking free beer. Loaned my friends in another band my skate to use as an amp truck since some of their cabs don't have casters. Was putting the skate away in the Rockmobile and this brazen hussy strolls up and goes "So I guess this is where all the groupies come after the show?" WTF? Jeez, I'm 47 and there's like 2 dozen other musicians playing there (not to mention another couple dozen in the audience) and she's gotta hit on me? Not to mention I'm wearing my ring. So I just laughed and said I was too old for any such stuff. Drove home and watched America's Funniest Home Videos on TV with la familia, then we all watched a Scooby Doo animated movie we had on tape. Fell asleep in my clothes. The end. BK Will have photos to post here over the next couple days. Here's Crash Pad on Saturday:
Members fastplant
Is that Tama the "expensive" kit? No offense, but it seems your drummer is a little self centered.

Carlos back in the day, it's all Drummer's Workshop and {censored}. This is a pic of his kit from a different show: If he hadn't have called it I'm sure our singer would've. If it had started raining any harder we could've gotten fried. Besides I had my 1966 Super Reverb (the top half anyway) out there and it's not really made for rain either. Members ratthedd
Hey Brian, Nice to see you're putting that Jet Star to good use. I'm still kicking myself for not jumping on that deal a few years ago when they were giving them away.

Broke a string and went to the Jet Star, which hadn't been played in over a week and darned if it wasn't still in tune! I used the Jet Star as my main guitar the next day in my side band too. Members Brian Krashpad
Here's me on Sunday with the HotHeads: The rig behind me to the right is Hoyt's MusicMan head and Sovtek 2x12. Mine's obscured behind me, but the bottom cab is my DIY Celestion 2x12 cab, with the top half of my '66 Fender Super (40W 2x10). I left the bottom half of the Super at home. Members FlogRock
Admit it, you still liked the groupie attention. Nice pictures again. I see you went with ensemble #2 + a colorful guitar. Good choice.
Members Brian Krashpad
Originally posted by FlogRock Admit it, you still liked the groupie attention. On some level, sure. At 47 to be hit on by younger women is good for the ego, not that mine has ever been unhealthy to begin with. Not that getting hit on happens very often, but I also always feel weird when it does. First, I don't want to hurt the woman's feelings, but since I almost always have my wedding band on (I had it off for awhile a couple weeks ago when I got a bad allergic reaction and my doc was afraid it might not come off otherwise), I figure they should know I'm married. Second I always end up thinking "Did I do anything to encourage this?" I mean, besides being my sexy rawk god self. I do flirt with an audience when onstage I suppose, and I suppose it has a sexual element to it, but it's not like I hit up women in the audience after shows, or even single out one particular person to make eye contact with whilst playing. Oh well, I guess I should just look on it as flattering and move on! Originally posted by FlogRock Nice pictures again. I see you went with ensemble #2 + a colorful guitar. Good choice. Yeah, I think I'll save the tanker coverall for cooler weather. BK

Yeah, but when it starts to get hot midway through the set and the zipper goes down to the waist for some ventilation I'll still have to smack 'em down like El Ka-Bong! It pales in comparison to a potential new rhythm guitarist (not pictured here) we had come up and play one song with us. He wore a UF Gators baseball cap. I got nothin against the Gators, and nothin against caps, but to play punk rock and roll, that was just wrong with a capital rrrrr. At least the mull-hawk was genre-appropriate.
