Members orfalot
I've played the guitar to some degree for over 30 years but there are still songs that I play on a continual basis with our band that I can't conquer. Its not that they are the most difficult songs we play but they kick my butt. Of all songs Brown Eyed Girl, the intro and the outro, Wonderful Tonight, the opening and repeated lick. On Brown Eyed Girl I finger pick and the problem seems to be a lack of consistency annunciating all the notes. On Wonderful Tonight I can't seem to figure it out but its seems more to do with the picking of the notes than the bend I'm trying to do. At any rate I've listened to the originals and practiced but never have "turned the corner." I don't butcher the songs but are any of you guys like me in that there are songs that just own you? Members fastplant
I was in a band with my brother, and we did Sweet Child O' Mine. And he could nail that solo all day and night. But whenever I'd say something at the begining of the solo like, "that's my brother on guitar," he's mess it up every time. It got to be pretty funny. Members srsfallriver
I have the most trouble with the easy songs. Its like my brain goes into standby mode and I start concentrating on what's going on around me rather than what I'm playing. Ironically, I'm fine at that point. The real trouble comes when my brain turns back to what I'm playing and is suddenly, totally lost!!!! I sometimes try not to think about my playing on easy, often played songs. I love it when I end a tune and think "how did I get through that without thinking about it one bit?".
Members Inazone
We play all originals, and as the primary songwriter, I have been playing the material longer than anyone...some songs for well over five years. For some reason, I almost always screw up the lead-in to the first verse and a bridge section in one of our songs. Other than that, no problems. Members Meatball Fulton
Making mistakes over and over again simply means you do NOT know how to play it yet. It doesn't matter if you've played it for years, you still don't know that part you mess up. The only solution to inconsistency is focused practice. Play the tune slowly and RECORD it. Listen back, where do you screw up? Work on JUST THAT PHRASE until you get it PERFECT. Try different fingerings (both hands) if necessary.
Members squealie
After 25 years on the instrument, and at least 15 on stage, I can't think of a song that I can consistantly pull off.
Members tucktronix
UK's "Presto Vivace", the intro to "In The Dead Of Night". Still working on it.

It is so simple and boring to play that my mind wanders. Before you know it "clunk".
Members theAntihero
One of our originals is a pretty heavy and fast song, and the solo is also quite speedy. When we first started playing it i had a heck of a time nailing it. About a month later we went into the studio and recorded the song. Well when we played it we sped it up too. First and only take.... i nailed it:D Then for about a month after i could not do it at that speed:(
Members flip333
I knew an outstanding guitar player a few years ago. He could rip it up man. But he sucked on Brown Eyed Girl. Stink city. It was like a mental thing. You should be able to play a song right after proper practice ( starting off slowly and all....) but mental or spiritual baggage gets in the way sometimes. Members GCDEF
Message in a Bottle messes me up for some reason. Usually if I sit with a part for an hour or two I can nail it. Didn't work for that song. We ended up dropping it.
