I was looking for a bass player and put out ads...90% of the people who replied told me they played in at least 4 other bands...Nah, that ain't gonna cut it, so I didn't consider any of them. Fortunately one of my friends was available and now he's in the band. He's in volved in a couple other projects but they don't play too often, and his day job is such a stress-inducing factor for him, he jumps at any opportunity to play just for the release. Members Hamer Player
I'm generally a very jealous type, so I wouldn't like people in my band playing in other bands.
Members ZED
As long as they're smart and always take the gig that pays the most, no problem. Because that's what I did and was honest about it when I played in multiple bands.
Members salislore
We had to let our bass player go for a number of reasons. One of them being that he was in another band. He was in the other band for 5 years before joining our new start up band. The problem was our new band was getting way more gigs in our first year than his original band. So, there were date conflicts when his original band did get a gig. I believe he actually enjoyed playing in our band more, but we decided to let him go. Like I said there were other reasons as well. My take is that if you have a successful band and the other band is even modestly successful, you will have date conflicts. I will not play with anyone who is in another band for this reason. Members Joey Ace
I might be too old for the Geezer Brigade. I saw Cream, Led Zep, and The Who on their first US tours, when I was in High School. I play in two bands, and accept fill-ins in others. I wish there was one I could commit to, but that's not the reality of the situation. BTW, I'm a multi-instrumentalist, mostly Steel Guitar. I have a day job, the music thing is a weekend warrior hobby. The problem is few folks that have the commitment and desire that I want to work. If one band could guarentee me 5 out of 6 weekends booked, and I enjoyed playing with them, I'd commit. I don't expect that to happen on the local level here. It's VERY IMPORTANT to be HONEST about the situation. I keep my booking schedule on my web page. If it's not listed there I'm available. I would never back out of a gig I committed to for more money at another. I have a lot to offer as a musician. Reliability, talent, etc.If a band wants to replace me, or not even use me because of this honesty, so be it. I'd also understand if a band I'm involved with wants to book a show without me. Works for me.

Members doubleR
It's getting really interesting. Our singer doesn't want to sing too much at band practice Friday because he's practicing with his other band Thursday, and he has a gig with them Sunday. Then, I find out that our other guitar player is playing with another band also. He has a gig with them next Saturday, and another Saturday in October. It kind of unmotivates me to learn new songs and practice hard knowing that this band is being pushed and pulled in so many different directions. Members GCDEF
We just got a last minute call from one of the best clubs in town for tomorrow. My drummer's other band is already booked. There are times when it definitely sucks.
Members Help!I'maRock!
i'm in 2 bands. in my eyes, both of them are on equal footing, and they both deserve my attention. there are weeks when one band will practice twice, and the other once; and vice versa. i've also cancelled practices with one to make room for another who has a gig and needs it. one singer is threatened by the other one. sucks for her i guess.
