I working on the business cards for my cover band. Any one have any examples?

Should we have 1 card for the whole band or a card for each individual? Whole band I think?

Should there only be 1 set of contact info or is it OK to include 2 sets? If 2 of us are available to take calls during the day.

Include:

Band Name (duh)

URL

booking email

phone #

Anything I'm leaving out?

Well make sure if you want to use it as a maketing tool do not skimp out on important stuff. Too often people will not spend the money needed to get them better gigs in the long run. I am having a website built and it is the same principle. Business cards can be made here:

www.vistaprint.com

I uploaded my on Jpegs but it was not that expensive.

Try to include one contact. It will be less confusing to people.

In our band each player is responsible for booking gigs, some guys are better at it than others. If you use one contact number make sure that's your best "salesman." I'm not suggesting you do this because its kinda cheesy but our business cards have 2 blanks at the bottom where the individual bandmember fills in his name and phone number. Business is good and we're still working off a box of 500 we bought in 1998!

I would not suggest doing that unless you can keep it from getting confusing. Most people cannot be truasted the right way to do that. One person handling it would be better.

* To give potential venue/customer a handle on what you do...mine says:

"Contemporary Acoustic Magic

from a 21st Century troubadour"

This can make a difference in whether they'll remember you or not...remember: they may well get a couple dozen business cards/promo packs EVERY day!

Also, there should only ONE person doing the booking....whoever is best at these matters, but EVERYONE in the band should carry plenty of cards to give out to ANYONE who stands still long enough! Every year, I do some private gigs from people I gave a card to at another gig or party...sometimes, 2-3 years earlier!

Moral of the story: Everyone needs to have one (or more) of your cards, and you need for everyone to have one (or more) of your cards...

One last thing...the more you buy, the cheaper they are...1,000 is only a few $$$ more than 500!

I make mine on Microsoft Publisher. I usually make a few dozen at a time, so that if something changes (like a phone number) I'm not stuck with 450 unusable cards in a drawer in my bedroom.

My card has the band name in caps, a short descriptive phrase, two phone numbers (home and cell) and an email address. No website yet but I'm working on it.

Because of where we are located (Los Angeles) we list several phone numbers with different area codes. We do this because we play a large area, and there are about ten area codes active in our playing area. Club owners are notorious cheapskates, so having to call long distance turns many off.
