Members BndGrl
I hate my job, let me live vicariously through you... How were your shows this weekend? So, I'm not a musician but I went to 3 shows this weekend (I love long weekends!) Friday night was the best! Got to see some friends play who I haven't got to hang out with much lately and that I've really missed. The show was good but this is the kind of band where you can't wait for the show to end so you can go back to the hotel room and party. Great guys! Love 'em! I'll be making lots of money off the blackmail worthy photos from that night:cool:
Members wheresgrant3
Only one gig this Saturday... our annual return to a room we only play in the winter months (once the riverfront summertime clubs close). Set for set it was one of the best regular shows we've ever had at the place (bar a holiday like St Patty's Day or Thanksgiving Eve). A nice jump start to the Falls season. Usually this place trails off a bit into the third set...people head off to some lare night clubs on their bar hops... but on this Saturday the place was packed until the house lights came on! (just before last call...) Friday I was off ... and did something unusual.... took my girlfriend to a dinner and a movie. It's a rare event being off on a Friday night so I need to gas up on the "tolerance" points when I can.
Members RupertB
Had a duo gig on Friday night out on the big patio (I love outdoor gigs!) of Mac's Tavern. Started at 8:30 to a nice sized crowd. We were a bit stiff at first but started to pull it together as the night progressed. The crowd really started getting into it later. Eric knocked off a couple of solo acoustic numbers while I went to get some beers and then I did a couple while he did the same. Next thing we knew, the bar manager was going "Its 1:15! Time to stop!"
Members tdempsey
I had a trio gig Friday, the last with our chick singer of the last year and a half... She showed up confused, thought the gig was Saturday. No makeup, tough day at work, pissy attitude and really dragged us down. Hard work when the singer isn't into it, but towards the end she belted out some stuff that's her signature - Janis and Zep. All in all, I *was* sorry to see her go but now that I know her attitude has changed I'm looking forward to a new leaf for us with her replacement. Members orfalot
We played just one gig this weekend and it was pretty good. The small clubs and bars we play are here at the beach and Post-Labor Day you don't really know what to expect. Last weekend we had excellent crowds at a similar club and they were 90% locals. We weren't as lucky this weekend and while there ended up being quite a crowd, they didn't start showing up until 12:15 and it was just hard to stay pumped up playing to the small audience that was there at 10:00. It wasn't a particularly good night for me on guitar but that said I didn't train wreck or anything. Seems like everything got better when the crowd arrived. This particular club normally has 2 women for every man but this weekend the ratio was dead opposite so yeah it could have been better. We have two outdoor gigs this upcoming weekend and I'm crossing my fingers that the weather will cooperate.
Members Mr. Botch
Killer gig Saturday, who'da thunk? I had Reserves this weekend, got up at 5 am Saturday to drive to Tooele, then one of my team members dropped a guidance set for a Maverick missile and shattered it, NOT good. Got home, raced to change and load up my keys, arrive at the venue, no Danny (our soundman who uses his own PA). NOT good. Jeff raced home and got our old PA, he had just moved so he had trouble finding everything (including the calibrated mic we use for our white noise/EQ setting). Got everything set up, our in-ear monitor settings were ALL screwed up, found out later we'd pulled the monitor outs from the wrong buss, NOT good. Sound sounded like {censored}, we finally got it somewhat close and realized we were on in an hour (THREE HOUR soundcheck, NOT good.) Started playing, the club owner came up during the first song and said we sounded like we were playing through a pillow, NOT good. Jeff and Wayne found another knob to turn, suddenly things started sounding OK. Suddenly the bar was packed. Suddenly we were ON, and the place rocked and stayed packed until closing; we had a better crowd than we did in that club on New Year's Eve! We tore down, I got home about 2:30, had a hot shower, and slept for 14 hours. Good.

Members srsfallriver
I had one gig in Nashua NH. It started off slowly but by the middle of the second set the crowd started warming up. By the end of the night we even had some of the employees out on the dancefloor! But alas, I still had to work today. I'm just a part-time musician. (my real job's good though!) Danny didn't write it down correctly, 2. Jeff didn't tell him the correct date, or 3. Jeff didn't update the website with our gig dates. And I've been with this group long enough to know not to ask! Members pink floyd cramer
My country/rock band plays 4 nites a week at the same club- not too many of those situations anymore AFAIK. Sat. nite was fairly typical. 4 out of 5 of us (all except the chick singer) work the same full-time job and everyone seemed to be exhausted. I wasn't too bad off but compensated by drinking a little more than I should have. The place was packed towards the end of the night (by default, it stays open 'til 4 AM) and there were alot of college girls gyrating right in front of our elevated stage to the Merle Haggard we were jamming on. Some of them were doing the "lesbo" thing rather suggestively and the drummer's girlfriend got pissed and jealous, came close to the front and started carrying on. No cat-fight though. After the last song, the guitar player's girlfriend, who had been restraining the drummer's girlfriend, came to the stage and started giving HIM hell. I found myself feeling glad that MY girlfriend has better things to do than hang out til 3 AM at a honkeytonk. With my keyboard under my arm, I exited through the side door where outside, a black guy and 2 white guys were hitting a bong, they didn't offer me any which I thought was incredibly rude:mad: . I walked around them and almost stepped on a middle-aged man rocking in a fetal position in the gravel parking lot, beside a car. I thought he was just drunk but wanted to make sure it wasn't a seizure or heart attack or something, so I asked if he was OK. He grunted affirmatively, then a woman came up and said "Oh that's my husband, he's just too drunk to get in the car" and I thought, "How long were you going to leave your husband in the dirt?". Gosh, that sounds bleak but we really do have alot of fun sometimes.

Members THB
I had four gigs in three days over the weekend, and had a great time overall. Our new drummer did great and we made some new friends.
Members maxnew40
Had an originals gig on Friday. Due to a scheduling mess up (Too many bands that night) We had to play a short set of about 30 - 35 minutes. We got a good reaction from the crowd and solld a bunch of t-shirts. The band that went on after us was awful. The drummer could barely play and guitarist was nothing but mud (trying to cop that Robin Trower tone). To make matters worse that somehow got toplay almost an hour. Then I broke my back window in my car during the equipment load out. Max
Members geekgurl
I had a gig this Sunday, actually the first live gig with this project. It was this one. Went pretty well all things considering. I am happy.
Members Mr. Botch
Geekgurl, you opened for Yerba Buena? I'm jealous! How was their show? Their CD is so much fun I can imagine what they'd be like live!
Members geekgurl
Their show is a good time! Talk about a contrast, though. They are definitely more on the pop side of things, with 4 vocalists and a show you'd expect with that. We, on the other hand, are decidedly jazzier, and an instrumental group. Still, we got a warm response from the audience. I was worried about that a little, given the difference between the 2 groups. But it turned out there was nothing to worry about; it was a lot of fun all the way around.
