Our setlist sucks

Hey mstrek,

I probably just didn't look hard enough, but all I could find on your link was a list of artists that you cover. Anyway it looks like you're a cover band that probably plays clubs/bars. My band used to do that but we've morphed into a wedding band. Still, we may do a club on a rare occasion.

You can check out my band's songlist at:

www.the-RETURN.net

We kept most of our "club" songs on there in case we get a potential client that want those types of tunes.

If we do a club now-days, our setlist would look something like:

You Can't Always Get What You Want

Pink Houses

Wonderwall

Sympathy For The Devil

Feel Like Makin' Love

Good Ridance

Hey Joe

Waste

Simple Man

American Girl

Brown Eyed Girl

Don't Stop

Squeeze Box

Magic Carpet

Santeria

Don't Forget About Me

Jenny Jenny

Blister In The Sun

Brick House

Sweet Home Alabama

Play That Funky Music

Santeria

Brian Wilson

Good Love

Old Time R&R

Breakfast At Tiffani's

Laid

Wanted Dead or Alive

Me & Julio

I'm A Believer

Sweet Child O'Mine

You Shook Me All Night Long

Thanks for the reply. And, sorry. I forgot that we changed the list on the site from songs to artists. It was easier to update that way.

But I really wanted someone to look at a recent set list, which already has songs that we play well and that the audience seems to like. But, as of last night, we're changing things drastically.

Here are our 99 most recently played songs. We had a "band meeting" last night and decided that we would each pare down the list to 60 and see what we have to work with from there. Obviously, the songs that none of us like or that we don't feel that we play well are going to go bye-bye. We can build things back up from there.

1. American Girl

2. Bad to the Bone

3. Ball and Chain

4. Basketcase

5. Beast of Burden

6. Blister in the Sun

7. Blitzkreig Bop

8. Brown Eyed Girl

9. Burnin

Do a Google search on "classic rock" "set list" or some variation of that. I've pulled set lists from all over the country by doing Google Searches.

We do classic rock and of your list we do this 17 of your 99. Even some of these are lame and we rarely do them, like Rock this Town, I shot the Sheriff, and Stuck in the Middle. Mustang Sally is an international standard. Brown Eyed Girl never fails.

8. Brown Eyed Girl

18. Freebird

22. Gimme Three Steps

27. I Shot the Sheriff

28. I Wanna be Sedated

29. I Want you to Want Me

31. Ice Cream Man

50. Mustang Sally

65. Roadhouse Blues

66. Rock This Town

76. Squeeze Box

78. Stuck in the Middle

81. Sweet Home Alabama

88. Twist and Shout

94. What I Like About You

98. You Shook me all Night Long

99. You can't always get what you want

We do a lot more Stones, Pink Floyd, Doors, Santana.

For Country Roads, we don't play it John Denver style. We start out with a "country" sound then we go straight into a driving rock version on the first chorus. We call that "putting our stink" on a song that would typically suck otherwise. :D

I would enjoy doing Brown Eyed Girl so much more if *I* wasn't the one singing it.

For those interested, here are the results of each of us choosing our "top 60". Now we just need to build three kick-ass sets. The songs with 1 and 0 votes will probably be moved to our "in case of emergency" list.

You have a female lead singer in the band? That may be why I can't stand some of your top picks. If I had to play Walk Like an Egyptian, Walkin' on Sunshine, and We Got the Beat I would quit after the first rehearsal and possibly join a monestary that requires a vow of silence. I did those songs in the 80's with a female lead and I think I'm still deeply scarred by the experience.

I can't imagine Country Roads in any style that wouldn't make me puke.

I see you've ditched Ice Cream Man which is fun for me because I rip organ leads and fills through the whole song.

If you have both female and male lead vox, you have the world in front of you! You can have great female vox songs:

Preacher man

I Will Survive

Respect

We Are Family

At Last

Kind & Generous

Great Male Songs:

Let's Stay Together

Let's Get it On

My Girl

Brick House

Old Time R & R

Great duets:

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

Come What May

Unforgettable

From This Moment
