Members StringMachine
Last night we played in front of about 35-40 people at a private party. It was my first time in front of people and it seemed to go very well. We had some of the usual glitches but all in all it went fine. I managed to dump a coke on my amplifier. Thank God it didn't blow up or suffer any damage. We played 22 songs, about 50/50 split between originals and covers. It was just about 2 hours worth of music. I was surprised I remembered everything. I have been biten by the "LIVE" bug. Can't wait to do it again.
Members e-b-e
Glad your first time playing in public went well! It is addicting to play for a crowd. Figure out a safe place to put your drinks where you won't damage your equipment and you're all set! Hope the beverage your amp drank doesn't cause long term problems with it functioning, might be a good idea to open it up and carefully clean it out so the residue doesn't furthur harm the electronics inside. Members StringMachine
Yea, I plan on doing that. I think I was really lucky that nothing got inside. It only got on the top of the amp and slightly on the sides. That is something I need to do however. I cleaned it really good this morning and everything looked fine. When it happened, we finished up with our current tune and I reached for my beer and some one put another drink right above my amp. Bump, and in slow motion I see it landing on my amp. I expected to see smoke and flames. My bassist yells out, "Oh {censored}, he spilled a drink on his amp!" Everyone starts looking for the anticipated light show. My amp blowing up or me getting electricuted. I quickly turn the amp off and inspect in for any liquid damage. Cleaned it up, fired it up and all was good. In the process of cleaning it I bumped some of the knobs which changed the volume mix. Other than that, on with the show. We go a great response from the audience and had a blast. I guess that's rock and roll.

You need one of these: http://swirlygig.com/ The first time I played in front of people was a backyard party with about 50 people. (The band I'm in are all veterans of years of gigging with the exception me.) People clapped for us after every song (we did two sets), and afterwards I had lots of people come up to me and compliment both the band and myself on how good we sounded. I was so pumped up it took forever for me to go to sleep that night, and I woke up really early the next morning, still buzzing.

But what the hell were you thinking putting a drink on your amp?! That is a no-no.

I had a drink on the counter but still several feet away from any electronics. One of the guests put a drink on the counter above and slightly to the left of my amp. I was facing the opposite direction playing and didn't see it. Most of the guests were in front of us but some were off to the side in the kitchen and thats how the drink got there. Just one of those situations that I never had to think about as it was my first time playing in front of people. It was also in my house, so people were wandering into the kitchen to get food etc.... I am stupid lucky that it didn't blow my amp. I will never put myself in that situation again. It was my JSX and I would have cried right there had it blown. No harm no foul....... Just won't do that again.......

Purchased the equipment I needed and moved to the next step. Didn't have all that stuff all the time. However, I do have GAS....LOL:cool:
