That's pretty sweet.

I think they are cool. I was fishing around some local sights yesterday and found a band in the area that had one. It was pretty cool except for they didn't have their own music playing over the video. They had a random rock song playing over it. It wasn't them playing. Kinda weird. I think it's cool if you have your own demo/live recordings playing over it.

Abso-friggen-lutely!!!! 100% I saw a promo video for a NY based agency band (we may be talking about the same band) that used video footage from their shows and then blended the actual songs the band supposedly covers over it. Incredibly lame!!!! In fact.... just as lame, another agency band has a studio demo on their site with stock crowd noise piped in over their demo. It is so painfully obvious that the recording isn't live.... even my girlfriend said it sounded lame. I don't understand? They can't get a decent board recording so instead they fake one.

Jon....Actually that's probably one of the best I've seen. There's only three logical ways you can come up with footage that good.... 1) you spent some big $$$$ and hired a video production company... 2) You have a close friend of the band who is a well known videographer 3) The club provided the video footage and a decent board recording and one or all of the band members work in TV production or has access to final cut pro. ;) I'd like to know more about how you did it. Home video camera footage just doesn't cut it. :D We've talked about hiring a professional videographer, but since we rarely play rooms with stages and professional lighting... video footage would probably hurt the effort, not help it. ;)

Thanks! It's kind of a mix between 2 and 3. Had the club use their cameras, then brought it to a friend that does video editing. Alot of it was from Tuxedo's actually. At some point we'd like to finish the vid, or start a new one. Not sure. But at least we know what we're doing now.

As far as home video cameras. Some of that was done with just a handheld DV camera. So it can be done if the person using it knows what they're doing.

Very nice job.

Thats the best way to do a promo...take live footage and do something clever with it. Much better than coming up with a goofy story and having the members act it out...ick.

Thanks guys. We actually talked about finishing this up last night. Of course, one of the members has now left the band so we have to redo alot of it now. But not such a huge deal.

I once did two promo videos in one day; one for an oldies revue show band and another for a german polka band. Both bands shared some members so we did the whole thing in an afternoon at a local junior high school gym.

The videos came out OK, but, as far as I know, neither band ever got one job out of them. Both bands have pretty much disbanded now so I doubt if either of these promo videos will ever see the light of day.

Kind of a shame, there was some pretty funny stuff on there, especially my version of Elvis-in-lederhosen singing "Wooden Heart" in German.

Nice job. Slight out of sync spots. Pretty good looking video. What kind of video cameras were used?

Eh, there was no attempt to sync anything, haha. Mostly just standard DV camcorders.
