Members maxnew40
Thats cool it is not a bad thing to have some sort of band image. Just be careful in what you choose. You still want to be percieved as a musician. You want to look like a pro band and not like you just left rehearsal for the local play. It might be a good idea to look at what the bands that you cover wear and try to get a similar look. If you di funk covers dress funky, if you do classic rock watch some classic rock videos and so on. Good luck. You know you have to post pics when you get your outfit. Absolutely, and to be honest I think the other guys in the band are a bit nervous about doing anything other than the jeans/t-shirt combo, but I think having some sort of band identity or brand is a big selling point. Many of the songs we do have a country-rock/folk slant - Shawn Colvin, Shania Twain, Fleetwood Mac. I thought maybe a an old western frontier look would be cool. I already have a cowboy hat. Members brassic
There was a thread about stagewear on here a while ago and opinions were pretty divided on the subject. I'm personally in the "stand apart from your audience" camp - I can't stand it when bands dress like they're gearing up for an evening of PS2 and pot. I don't want to step off the stage and just blend into the crowd. Besides, people are coming to see as well as hear you. The country rock/folk slant could really work for you, as long as you don't go too OTT - if you all get up there in full cowboy regalia it could get a bit theme park. But you *should* look the part. The guys who are nervous about straying from jeans and t-shirt territory could be more subtle about it (eg, a cool western belt and cowboy boots). Members Edward
Originally posted by Rocinante OK, cheers. I probably wouldn't order anything anyway unless I got an email response. The other thing i forgot to mention..... always check shipping costs. I priced out buying a whole bunch of stuff a year ago from Dogpile www.dp-77.com - but the only shipping option they would offer to the UK was the most expensive airmail type, plus considering the fact that you could well have to pay import tax & VAT if customs sniffs it, things seeming much cheaper in the US can often be a false economy. You're right there. I already learned this the hard way. The really annoying thing is that I can't get the jeans I like (Levis flares or bootcut) anywhere in the UK. Only Cloggs seems to do them and I stopped buying from them after the 3rd or 4th pair of jeans arrived with frayed legs.
