only one song so far...we're gonna record 2-3 more of our songs on friday most likely...we only had about an hour to do this...

so we got a hold of a tascam 4 track, and in the absence of our bass player...we still decided to record one of our songs...

guitar was done with an epiphone g-400 going into a digitech hotrod, and then into the recorder from there...we didnt have enough mics for our real set so we used a roland v-drums set going into a marshal mg15cdr practice amp and then from there into the recorder...no bass...

i know the screams suck...we just havent found a good screamer yet...

I play guitar...and yes i know my tone sucks, but we were really in a pinch for time...

oh and we all hate our name...we were thinking of changing it to "roses red"

or "in the wake of tomorrow"

or "in the wake of my regrets"

tell me what you think...

the only downside to the name that there is a pretty big band on truskill records whose name is Roses Are Red. I know names suck, but when u make a name you have to google it and then check purevolume...then its a pretty safe bet to use the name. but there are no garuntees.

yeah, the recording is rough...its not that we need to practice the song more, i think the problem was how we were recording it...cause the timing was really tough to get right...especially having laid down the drum track first...because i played along with an acoustic while he did the drums, but it was still very difficult for me to come in at the same time when i did the guitar track...looking back, i wish we had used a metranome...when we do the rest of our songs this week, we're definitly going to use a metranome...gah! why didnt i think of that before...

edit:

hmm, maybe the name "violets blue" then?

To be honest, everything about that song is awful. The drums are crap, the guitar playing is crap, the singer can't sing to save his life. And none of you seem to know how to play in time.

But.... BUT. May I suggest one thing. Never post a song on the internet that is anything below your best effort. You can make all of the excuses you want but that doesn't change the fact that the majority of people who listen to the song you posted will have a negative view of your band and will think your band sucks no matter how good you guys sound under better conditions.

Yeah, there will be those that say you suck, but if want constructive critisicm don't let them scare you off. This is a great place to learn and unless you stick yourself out here you'll get no feed back at all. It's far better to hear it here than on the stage.

Don't forget that you can take the best band/guitarist in the world and somebody on these forums will say that they suck.

You just have to learn to distinguish "Ha Ha you suck" from "you would suck less if you".

It was obvious that you weren't puffing out your chest and boasting about how good you were. That would have been quite a different story.

i agree with all of that, except for the guitar playing...i know its kind of simplistic, but that doesn't mean thats all im limited to...that song was written as a punk song...i dont see many punk guitarists playing much more than 4 or 5 power chords anyways...besides...that song(minus the breakdown, i wrote that) was written by the drummer...(plays guitar too)...i've written all our other songs...and they sound nothing like that...but he insisted we record that one so whatev...
