the other 'bandaids' make it painfully obvious?

I mean its been awhile since I have done some gigs, but it seems anytime some girls comes up to me the other band members gf's/hanger on's start making smart remarks and stuff ...seriously all eyes in my direction vibing the girl :o

I said to them if brad pitt came into the room and they started flocking to him I wouldn't say {censored} so why spoilt my fun

 (not trying to compare myself to him of course ;) )

I think maybe they are getting jealous they aren't getting a dose of the caveman after the gig:thu:

Well, I'm often one of girls who watches on while groupies hit on the guys in bands I know.

It IS fun to watch, and sorry, we're not going to look away!

I think maybe it's because we know who you really are, and we're watching some poor girl lay all her pride down at your feet because of who she THINKS you are.

When i was touring we had rules about such behaviour....

At the home gigs married or hooked up guys could not do groupies if there were any wives or G/Fs in the house, period. The theory was that if a wife saw someone else hit on groupies she would assume her husband was doing the same when she wasn't around. This rule was strictly obsrved and didn't really need to be enforced. Was pretty much common sense. There was almost always at least one wife or G/F at every home gig so basically, married guys couldn't go near groupies, unless they were VERY clever...

The second rule was NEVER bring your wife or G/F to a road gig, ever! For the same reasoning.

I know... but sometimes its true. Other times, I'm sure it is insecurity/jealousy. Depends on the girl.

But there was a time when I knew a certain drummer, with very few redeeming qualities, he wasn't a very nice or honest person, cheated on his girlfriends, did a lot of drugs, had a temper, wasn't very good looking and wasn't even in a successful famous band.

But for some reason, women were all over this guy at shows, which would cause me and a few others to watch in amazement at this spectacle. We would wonder, "how does he DO it?" And watch on as some young hottie threw herself at this guy who she'd never look at twice if they were at the mall.

All the while I'd be thinking, "does that poor girl know who he IS? That he's got a girlfriend and a kid at home?" Or maybe she doesn't care. But it makes me see how stupid some women are. They are way too trusting.

I see it now. Yep! In fact those insecurities are probably well placed from my experience... ;)

When I was 1st introduced to that particuler band, after the 1st rehearsal the rd mgr pulled me aside and broke the rules down to me. There was pretty much only those two rules. Of course the bandleader had a whole 'nother set of rules but that's a whole 'nother thread altogether.

These laws are still in effect today.

There are a completely different set of rules for home vs. away games.

Home games afterparty=pack your gear and drive home in the minivan.

Away games afterparty=Broken doors, tables, cops and 2 men sharing a hotel shower while the other watches from a toilet....or so I hear.

one of them also said she made comments about one of these girls because she was trouble/user ...which I ended up finding out he hard way:cry:

I just honestly never seen a table of girls so fixated in what i was doing:confused:

Hmmmmmm..........

Sounds to me kinda like there might be someone at that table that may want more attention from you than you realize, be it good or bad.

Too, too true. :):thu:

I remember one show where a couple of obviously inebriated girls were right up against the stage and we were playing our usual crap with them, dipping our guitar necks as they tried to touch them, and exhorting them to show us their boobs. Several girls did, including one cute and innocent looking one I hadn't seen at any shows before.

After the show, I saw her friend but not the shy girl herself. I asked the friend where she was and learned she was in the ladies room too embarassed to come out., because of what she'd done. :D

I waited by the door to the LR without any luck but eventually her friend went in again and coaxed her out. She was embarassed to see me and (I think) considerably sobered up from before. We had a short conversation where she started apologizing profusely (now is that ridiculous or what?) and I interrupted her and explained we were all just acting out our parts, her by being the crazy fan and us by being the supposed rock stars.

But now the show was over and we were ordinary people again. No big deal. I invited her to our traditional after gig 24 hr pancake house band feast and to my surprise she came with us.

She and I got to be pretty good friends in the next couple of weeks, but she had a couple of surprises in store for me that I never saw coming.....
