Members PeteZTrucker Posted January 13, 2006 Members Posted January 13, 2006 For several months every year I drive trucks around Europe for rock bands, so I guess I've been to most of the venues. The Paradiso in Amsterdam is about right, if you ask me, especially since it's been done up. Very nice place, even if you have to do a blind reverse over some awkward tram lines to get on the ramp. It's right next to a bar on a canal, so once you're tipped you can hang out on the waterfront, enjoy the ...ahem...local produce and generally chill. The sound at the gig has always been good when Iv'e been there, but then again I've normally been under the influence. Most of the bands I've trucked about love the place, so they should know, no? The WORST I've been to recently was a Goth festival in Lapland in 2005; tens of thousands of ghastly drunk Goths, mosquitos, nothing to drink or smoke, crap catering, awful sound, miles from anywhere, although I did see a moose on the way to Helsinki. Red Rocks is the best large gig I've been to in the US.
