Members Facing Failure Posted March 17, 2006 Members Posted March 17, 2006 Man, tonight at 11pm we leave to head for our first night of tour which is in Maryland. I am trying to hold back vomiting. I get like this damn near everytime I go out on a tour. It sucks....I get so nervous. I'm a high strung person and I like doing all the booking and promoting and handling of the business stuff for us, but this is the downside. I'm not actually able to enjoy myself for the first few nights until I see how things are going. Usually the first night of tour's a good indication of whether or not the whole tour's gonna suck. Ugh....I hate this part of everything. Sorry for my thread not having a point...I just felt like sharing.
Members Beachbum Posted March 17, 2006 Members Posted March 17, 2006 Thanks for sharing that man. It makes everyone else who may feel like that know they're not alone, and that's a good point to your post. That nervous feeling you get? That's a feeling reminding you that you are ALIVE and living something EXCITING. Some people never get to experience that feeling because they don't do anything out of the ordinary. I get that nervous uptight feeling too, when I just think about playing in front of people. But I remind myself that I could stay home on the couch if I choose, never have that feeling, and therefore never really experience anything to the fullest. Suck up that adrenaline rush, love the nervous feeling, let it remind you that you're DOING WHAT YOU LOVE. The only way to get those feelings are to dare to be different. Dare to be different and really enjoy it. Kick some ass on your tour. (Maybe pop in once in a while during your tour and let us know how it's going. There's a lot of love here, keep in touch.)

Members Tedster Posted March 18, 2006 Members Posted March 18, 2006 Exactly what Beachbum said. There are all sorts of ways to feel anxious or nervous...good ways and bad ways. This is a good way. Enjoy it!

Members ThumpThumpTwang Posted March 18, 2006 Members Posted March 18, 2006 Good luck, I'm sure it'll go fine. If the band didn't have someone like you, it could well end up a band that never makes it outta the garage to go play the corner pub down the street. Get lotsa exercise. That's always been my best method to deal with stress. (Definitely a "do as I say, not as I do", recommendation). We're looking forward to the stories!
