But that's a whole 'nother thread. Heheh... well assuming you're talking about R.E.M... I've had the same experience. BUT... 1) the other guys in the band are cool, 2) I don't necessarily hold it against anybody for being a jerk to fans they run into. Sure, it'd be better if they weren't, but some people just don't deal with that very well, or they're having a bad day, or they're just introverted and don't know what to do when strangers talk to them. But it doesn't really say much about how they are in their personal lives, and it seems that Stipe is actually a pretty upstanding member of the community. Those guys have done a LOT to help Athens, buying up old hotels and other businesses and fixing them up, etc. So ya know... Stipe might not be so nice to random fans but at least he doesn't waste his life. Or beat up women. Or a lot of things somebody like Tommy Lee does. Anyhow. I don't normally make a habit of gossiping or trashing people. But Tommy Lee is just a whole other league of jerk.

I guess pyro, and fancy lights really does it for the old-timers. I prefer to watch good bands personally... Nostalgia acts are clogging up the music scnene all across the country. Retire and leave some room for musicians who actually give a {censored}... "Nostalgia bands" are touring for one simple reason: they come in at a lower price than they used to, and they sell tickets. If new bands could draw, they'd be getting promoted. It's just a matter of economics, pure and simple. Sadly. I am so ready for some of these guys to retire.

Yeah, yeah, yeah Lee, I hear ya...Buck, Berry and Mills ARE great guys, and Stipe's a great humanitarian, gives to charities, this close to finding the cure for cancer, etc., etc., not disputing that. STILL think the guy's a pompous jerk. But I agree with you...I'll take a pompous jerk over an abusive wife-beating jerk any day.
