Members Bender69 Posted March 17, 2006 Members Posted March 17, 2006 So I've been lurking and reading for a few months here, and was just wondering since I've read a lot of people complaining about band mates, has anyone got together with others from this forum and started a band? If so, how are things going with it?
Members LateGreats Posted March 17, 2006 Members Posted March 17, 2006 A fellow forumite tried out for a band I was in last summer. Great player, great writer, just didn't work out. But a great guy who I stay in contact with. Having heard some of the stuff you guys are putting out there, I'd be thrilled if you were in my band. Talented bunch we've got here.
Members Mr. Botch Posted March 17, 2006 Members Posted March 17, 2006 We met our soundman Danny on this forum back when it was on Musicplayer.com. He sounded like he knew his stuff, I went to meet him in Salt Lake, he came up and mixed us once, and he's still stuck with us!
Members MBA27 Posted March 18, 2006 Members Posted March 18, 2006 Band? Almost, but no. I've met some cool people in the flesh though. I've also jammed with several people who used to hang out in Cool Jam back when it was the Vet's forum. There were 7 of us that met up at a house in Central Jersey. It was a very cool experience.
Members SanDiego333 Posted March 19, 2006 Members Posted March 19, 2006 I've not met anyone from the forums....yet. There are a few people who gig in my area that I hope to catch up with, but alas, so far...no one.
Members Beachbum Posted March 19, 2006 Members Posted March 19, 2006 I haven't met anyone yet, and no band/music mates, but I've learned a great deal through this site.

I met THB last summer, and I'm going back to San Diego this summer (September, actually) and hope to see his band, where I'll get to meet THB bassman (who I'm supposed to go on a motorcycle ride with as well) and Tim (Zendog 54). I'd also like to meet SanDiego333, Daddymack, who lives in LA, and Blackwatch, who lives in Seattle, a mere 260 miles from me.
Members Blackwatch Posted March 20, 2006 Members Posted March 20, 2006 Hey Bluestrat....If you come this way we'll put you up for the night. We've fallen into this wonderful house situation and I guarrentee you'll love the view. The Offer is there.....

I think we may get MDL and few others lined up for that...SD333 is definitely invited...

Im narrowing it down to the second or third weekend in September...probably the third. Weather should be nice. Kids will be back in school, the wife will be working (though she may fly down for the weekend). I'm flexible to do either one. Or the one after that. You should be able to get a stage on one of those, right?

I had to miss the last SoCalHCJam a couple years back because I was booked already.....
Members BlueStrat Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Originally posted by daddymack mmmmmmmmmm....winery gig............ Jeez, they're great. One starts at 6:30 to 9:30, the other is 7-10 weeknights, 8-12 weekends ( I do a duo on that one). We sit down, play what we want, and get fed really top-notch Sicilian/ mediterranean food. I get tipped well. What could be better?
Moderators daddymack Posted March 22, 2006 Moderators Posted March 22, 2006 Originally posted by BlueStrat What could be better? free wine.... but I know that is not what you are into. but you could send it to me....
Members BlueStrat Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 Originally posted by daddymack free wine.... but I know that is not what you are into. but you could send it to me.... Actually, the one I play in Chelan gives me a 28 dollar complimentary bottle, plus a 30% employee discount for any others I buy, so I end up coming home with about 54 dollars worth of wine for about 17 bucks. My wife likes good wine.
Members Brian Krashpad Posted March 22, 2006 Members Posted March 22, 2006 I got the chance to jam with Bbreaker from the guitar forums (guy with like 60 very nice guitars and tons of amps) last year when he was vacationing in FL. I've also played shows with Chairborne from the guitar forums, his band Roach Motel and my first band did a number of gigs together back in the early 80's, so when they did a couple reunion tours a few years ago my current main band got the middle slot on the bill in support at their Gainesville shows. Also more recently did a show here in GVL with a guitar forums guy, I believe his screen name is Raskolnikov's Axe, their band is from up in Jax FL. But joined a band with? No. BK
