Members Mr Bliss Posted March 19, 2006 Members Posted March 19, 2006 Hi, I don't post here too often so I don't expect an overwhelming response, but here's my question any way. I'm in the process of recruiting a new band, I've a cool guitar player from my last band, an awesome multi instrumentalist who's taking on drum duties - with amazing results & a singer, female, who's failed to show for the last two rehearsals. I'm currently advertising for a replacement female singer. With regards to the female singer, I'm just a little tired of the old formula regarding 4 white men grunting out tjhe sdame old cliched crap. Every band I've been in has consisted of nothing but men, so I figure it's time to explore other things. My poll is based on what name I should call this band? Read the poll options, vote accordingly, or if you have a better suggestion. . . do tell all. BTW We play pretty straight ahead funk/rock/psyche music. Thanks in advance, Bliss.
Members srsfallriver Posted March 19, 2006 Members Posted March 19, 2006 It sounds to me like you have to worry more about solidifying your band and songlist. Debate with your band about what your name ought to be after you know who you are, what you're playing, and where you're intending to book. I think its a bad idea to let a bunch of strangers vote your band a name before its even really a band. Good luck!

I'm fairly certain what we'll sound like - vox depending. I just wanted an overall view on the names suggested. We'll not be a cover band, barring maybe one or two challenging songs we think we can make a good job of. With the tunes & direction we're taking as an instrumental outfit, we seem to be less conventional rock & more exploratory psyche music. The onus is to get people grooving & dancing. Ta for your comments, Bliss.

We're Belfast based & B'fast is known for it's love of hard punk & backward metal music, two genre's I've never had a deep love for. My above post to Mr Fallriver is my best description of how I think we'll sound. The names I've suggested, are nothing more than that; suggestions. The guitar player has read the post & already hates the One Hot Second name. I posted on this forum half safe in the knowledge that I'd get reasonable answers/suggestions, knowing full well if I posted on O.J (which has it's place:)) I get names such as spunk sucka &/or worse. The name's not too important atvthis stage, but sometimes a name adds focus to a fledgling group & pushes things forward. Ta, Bliss.
Members thriftyshirt Posted March 20, 2006 Members Posted March 20, 2006 www.freebandnames.blogspot.com Of the ones in the poll I like Concubine Inc. the best, especially if you have a female lead singer who's cool with it....

That's my own personal favourite too, but you're right some girls may see that as a slight, others as a witty indie band name.
