I think that's part of it, but I also believe it's the way life changes for bands. Unless they're a party rock band or one that writes nothing but road experience stuff they don't have much to draw from between the debut and sophomore records. Plus, there's the whole hunger thing. Once bands have a successful record the next one is usually much less hungry. It's hard to be hard edged after touring the world and making your dream come true!

Members matt greeno Posted March 29, 2006 Members Posted March 29, 2006 Life of Agony - River Runs Red. This is my favorite album and was a huge influence on me. Everything they made afterwards just went downhill. I went to see them and I have a shirt of theirs, but this is the only album of theirs I didnt trade in for something else.

It's my favorite by them because they hadn't really become "Steely Dan" yet, ya know? They were a group of talented, unique players and a pair of young writers with a very different slant on things. Sure, I like their newer stuff, but Can't Buy A Thrill just has this thing about it... not too polished. I also enjoy the extra singer they used on that album.
