My Band Needs Your Help!

I don't post much in this forum, so I apologize if this comes off as SPAM, but my band is entered in the Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands. We're trying to get a spot on the Ernie Ball stage at our local Warped Tour spot this summer - it would be very big for us and go a long way towards helping us get our name out.

My band Istari needs your votes and plays - you can really help us out by going HERE and listening to our songs.

Voting will begin on June 16th, so on that day I will either bump this thread or start a new one, but song plays in the meantime will count towards us in a big way.

Big thanks to all in advance!

My band needs your help, too.

Buy all my CDs. Please. Make me famous!

Download my songs all day at download.com so I can have the highest number of hits.

In fact, if you really want to help, let's just cut to the chase and just send envelopes stuffed with money.

Rememeber, by doing one of these simple things, you're not just helping a band to success, you're helping a bassplayer's mother get her mustache removed.

Won't you help?

Thanks! :thu:

Damn.

Maybe I should just ignore this whole thing, not draw attention to it, and we'll win by virtue of our haircuts and karma backlog.

That said, no bass player's momma should be forced to sport a mustache. Who should I make the cheque out to?

Really? What happened?

We played the 1st round at this music shop. The judges were all employees there, and one of the bands just happened to have a player that also worked there except one that was a local DJ at a radio station. Guess who won? But it gets worse. Of the 4 or 5 bands there (can't remember exactly) all were really great except the band that won, they were awful. But it gets worse. The DJ comes up to us later and says that he overheard the other judges talking before the competition and they were saying that no matter what, their friend's band would win. The DJ said he voted for our band saying ours was clearly the best.

Sucks that Ernie Ball has little to do with the actual judging.

Dude, I think if you don't have enough fans to vote for you that you really don't deserve to play the show anyway. Getting total strangers that have little or no interest in your band to vote for you would be basically cheating anyway. If you can't attract a following a big show won't magicaly make your band attract a big following in the future.

Good luck on the deal. Get on the phone to your fan base, announce this voting thing at your other shows. Build your following and the good gigs will just happen.

Strange of you to assume I haven't already done so.

I'm a member here (ableit one with very few posts) and thought I could call on the HC community for a little back-up to help out a fellow musician.

Besides, if you listen to the music and LIKE IT then perhaps you have an interest? If you don't that's cool too. Either way, like it or not, vote or not, thanks for taking the time to read and respond to my thread.

Well, it is a battle of the bands, after all. I've yet to participate in one that was run in any semblance of something a person could call "fair" - even the ones where I've won or placed highly.

It's really more about the exposure for us than it is any kind of monetary prize.

Fixed.

What do you think I'm trying to do?? Circumvent the system? Get real, man.

How, exactly, do you expect a band to gain fans without any form of promotion? Are you waiting for us to set up and play in your front yard? Do you think that we're only entitled to receive votes from people who know us personally or have been to our shows?

It's an web-based contest for musicians. This is an web community comprised of musicians. I don't see this as any kind of circumvention - rather a direct link: Check out my band - if you like it, vote. If not, thanks anyway.

Not a hard concept to grasp, and not something I thought would be too much to ask.

I'm a cock-hair away from nuking this thread, but I don't know if I want to give any haters the satisfaction.

Thanks - I know you're right. The other guitarist in my band played the EB stage two years ago in his old band and said much the same thing. It would be cool to win and not exactly the end of the world if we don't, but we thought it was definitely worth a decent shot.
