Members Facing Failure Posted March 27, 2006 Members Posted March 27, 2006 And everything went well, we covered all our expenses with merch money and door money that we made. We got a lot of myspace friends requests from strangers we played in front of, and we even came out making a profit. So overall, it was a great tour. A good start for this band, as this was THIS BAND's first tour. I've been on a few, and our bassist has done a lot....so we learned even more and had a good {censored}ing time doing it. YAY!Major props to the ol' scratch guys cause we loved them and I think it would be fun to do a mini-tour with them in the near future.
Members JacieFB Posted March 27, 2006 Members Posted March 27, 2006 Awesome! So, any chance of a nice list of things that worked well vs. didn't work well this time out? (Booking/promo/travel/logistics/actual shows/etc?) Could be helpful to some new folks that haven't toured and some of us that have, but have fallen short of our tour goals.
Members Beachbum Posted March 27, 2006 Members Posted March 27, 2006 Great job, Face. All of that worrying was for nothing. Well, you're experienced now, congrats.
Members Blackbelt1 Posted March 27, 2006 Members Posted March 27, 2006 But did you still hurl the first night? ~Blackbelt

Well, you're experienced now, congrats. I been experienced. This isn't MY personal first tour, and it's not my bassist's first tour, it's this particular bands first tour. Um, I think just the general like, promoting through myspace, promoting with posters and flyers....finding people in the area who will hand out flyers and posters for you around town, sending stuff to college and independent radio stations, all that kind of stuff works great. It's one of those things where no matter what some nights are gonna be hit and miss, our show in dc was pretty miss because it was a weeknight and because there was a bigger show of the same genre right down the street. Things happen, but for the most part all your basic promotion techniques DO work... on the next tour we go out on in july we're going to try and get a local orlando beer brewery to give us some promotional money and in turn we'll promote the hell out of their company. We're going to try and be able to buy radio and newspaper ads in all the towns we go to, etc. Things of that nature...buying website banner ad space on popular rock websites like theprp.com and blabbermouth.net and {censored}. I'm probably being way too vague but I'm so scatterbrained and on the way home we were driving through snow and that gave me a cold so my head's all {censored}ed up. um....if there's anything else anyone could use some advice on I'm always down for help, I'm just bad with explainations.
