This is why we can't have nice things...

I came across two friends' postings on facebook yesterday that seriously make me look at humanity with disdain...

First post came from the president of a charity outdoor  musicfestival that just celebrated their 35th anniversay this weekend. Four golf carts (used by the staff) were stolen. One of the carts belonged to the festival, but the rest were rented.  Two of the carts were found but are severely damaged (one rental was totally destroyed). The festival organization is also being held financially responsible for the damage to nearby private property caused by those who stole the carts - they took out mail boxes and destroyed a sizeable chunk of a corn field. The carts cost $8000 each to replace. We were a part of this festvial three years ago - they do nothing but good for people and this is what they get for it.

The second post came from a DJ friend who organizes a sizeable amount of charity events (mukltiple bands, etc.). He doesn't have a lot fo money, but he and his wife purchased a DJ rig/PA solely for the purpose of hosting these charity events - and even bought a mid-grade drum kit so bands wouldn't need to drag in their own. The trailer containing his equipment was stolen this past weeknd. he is a super-nice guy and did all of this for free - and it bit him in the ass.

What the hell is wrong with people????

How beefed up were the carts to be able to destroy a corn field? That must have been one bumpy ride.

The corn is only about three feet high here. It wouldn't take much.
