OK, so recently the powertubes in the second side of my VHT 2:50:2 died.

So i was just wondering if it would be safe to pull to tubes out of there (the second side) & keep it in standby, with no speaker load, while i run the first side in mono?

I would just keep the dead tubes in their sockets until you're replacing the quad, leave no speakers plugged into that particular channel and keep it in standby....take them out when you've got a new matched quad to throw in and bias. Also throw a small piece of tape over the standby switch just in case....you never know.
