running two amps with gcx question. getting hum

Ok, so I am trying to run two amps at the same time with the gcx and I'm getting, you guessed it, hum. I noticed in the manual they say, If you're not using a feedthru you need to ground the chasis via rack rails or ground wire. I was just doing some experimenting today and didn't have the gcx hooked up to a rack so..... I don't see putting it in a rack would make a difference unless I have a grounded 3 prong rack unit in there with it to possibly ground the gcx to it. Anyhow, I want to go stereo with two amps so I need to get rid of this hum. If anyone can help me get on with the music I would appreciate it. thanks for taking the time to read.

P.S. I'm not sure if it is the gcx because I used a splitter out of my guitar straight to the two amps and I still get hum. What would cause this? Also, is using a ground lift on one amp a bad thing? This is all new to me so any help will be welcome. I hope I described things good enough. If not, ask away. Thanks again.
