Members badpenguin
After some 30 years, and thousands of gigs, my beloved Roland Blues Cube is starting to bite the dust. Some high end fizzles on clean channel, turning on and off almost randomly, and needing time to warm up like it's a tube amp. So when I saw this for 80 bucks in a pawn shop, (Where else?) I grabbed it. Carvin SX200. 100 watts LOUD, 2 channels, built in effects which sound nice, reverb, effects in/out, headphone jack, line out, variable ohm output for extension cabs... quite a few features. Overall impressions, other than louder than heck, is it's a bit on the brighter side of things, 3 band EQ is nice, the lead channel isn't bad, but.... I use pedals for gain. Has this "Blues" button that kicks in a 5K filter.... gag. And as a bonus, it's about 20 pounds lighter than my Roland! Moderators daddymack Posted May 12, 2022 Moderators Share Posted May 12, 2022 Interesting choice, and at 80 bux, such a deal! I vaguely recall there being some issues with the switching power supply and some diodes, but if yours is working, then the upgrade was likely done.
