Members W4SL
I didn't see anyone mention D&B. They cover extremely well and weather resistant up the kazoo.. I have seen them be completely exposed, on more than one occasion, to a torrential downpour and then fire them up right afterwards without a hint of a problem. I have seen 3 Q1s per hung per side, cover 4000 outdoors with loads of headroom. They are very durable and also expensive.. . Not sure of the OP budget, but if they can afford a simple D&B rig, it is well worth it.. Just my $0.
Members Mogwix
I didn't see anyone mention D&B. I'll vouch for D&B. I've never used them myself but have heard their arrays a few times, and was very impressed.
Members dboomer
There is nothing magic about a line array. They are no better or worse than other speakers. They are all about coverage and pattern control ... sometimes they are the better solution and sometimes not. JRsound -- the biggest question I have is how tall is your ceiling? That will be probably the biggest factor in making the decision. You mention 150' throw. That is something that line do well ... but 150' can also be done with delayed stacks easily too. 150' is a long way for all but highly specialized systems. One of the most important factors in a lie system is how tall the line is ... not the number of boxes. In most systems I have dealt with you end up using many more boxes (in your line) for pattern control than you might otherwise need to for just plain level. That's one of the big reasons that lines cost so much. I would suggest that you download a free program called "Ease Focus". You can then enter the parameters of your room and then drop in the specs for any line boxes you want to consider. It might be a quick way to see where you really are. Members BillESC
You should give Leon at RSA Sound a call. He's one of the preferred sound providers at Radio City Music Hall and knows his stuff. 516-242-8008 Tell him Bill from Entertainment Systems says Hi.
