Members ulao
I have had the original 5150 Peavey amp and 2101 digitech effect pre amp for about 10 years now. It has been great to me! Recently the volume goes nuts on me. During play I get this large jump in volume the it goes back down. My immediate thought was tubes but I have no replaced all. First the 5 preamp, then the power amplifier tubes. Next I tried the 2010 tubes... I really thought it was gone but it's not. I run my 2001 thru the low gain, and use only the rhythm channel. What should I look at next?
Moderators daddymack Posted January 28, 2021 Moderators Share Posted January 28, 2021 the digitech. Do you have another amp to test with? If you plug straight into the amp, without the digitech, do you have the same problem?
Members ulao
After a lot of troubleshooting it was just a damn dirty POT volume knob.

Members badpenguin
Look at it this way, it's re-tubed, and now all the pots are clean and shiny, and it will last another 10 years or so!
