synth for pads

The Korg Monologue is a strange choice for "pads" because it's a monophonic synth. I think of pads as being string and choir type sounds with a very slow attack and release, typically played as sustained chords. So for me, "pads" need a polyphonic synth.  The Korg Minilogue is similar but has 4-note polyphony. It is, of course, more expensive than the Monologue.

What matters is your BUDGET. How much are you able to spend? I think you'd be fine with any 'mainline' polyphonic performance synth like the (Korg, Roland, Yamaha) like the Yamaha MX49 . If that's over your budget than you'll either have to buy an older used synth or settle for one of those inexpensive home keyboards for now.
