One thing I feel is I try to fill in tool much lead in between chords/rhythm. I know Hendrix and EVH doing well. But you all here are familiar with players I have never heard of. For me I am a bit of a fusion head, so it'a always Wayne Krantz, Oz Noy, Mike Stern, John Scofield. Really depends on what styles you are into. Most people I hear play their main issue is almost always timing or "pocket". If you got a weak pocket, no great note or phrase will save you.
